Mission Loans is seeking experienced mortgage professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment without losing focus on quality of work and delivering an exceptional customer experience. As a credit policy manager, your primary mission is to oversee the staff and functions of the Credit Risk department as well as maintain the highest quality service standards set by the organization. Primary Duties & Responsibilities - Develop, maintain, and govern enterprise credit policies for mortgage and real estate lending products. - Evaluate risk model methodologies, outputs, and performance; partner with Fintech lending partners, retail partners, and investors to ensure policy alignment and risk appetite adherence. - Lead credit policy gap analysis initiatives, collaborating cross-functionally to identify exposures and drive remediation across origination, underwriting, and fulfillment. - Own and maintain investor relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for policy-related inquiries, guideline updates, and exception escalations. - Design and maintain risk monitoring dashboards and reporting packages for senior leadership, providing actionable portfolio-level insights. - Develop early warning indicators and leading metrics across mortgage portfolios to support the portfolio management team in asset hold, sale, and retention decisions. - Ensure credit policies reflect current agency (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac), FHA, VA, Jumbo, and Non-QM guidelines, and remain compliant with applicable federal and state mortgage regulations. - Assist and coordinate the release of new lending products, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure credit policy frameworks are established prior to launch. - Serve as a subject matter expert on regulatory compliance requirements governing mortgage loan origination and fulfillment, including TRID, RESPA, and applicable CFPB guidelines. - Communicate policy decisions, model validation findings, and portfolio performance through executive presentations and written reports with clarity and precision. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree required in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research, Financial Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science; advanced degree preferred. - 10+ years of progressive experience in credit policy development and quantitative analysis, with a statistical or data science background. - Demonstrated mortgage credit policy experience required; consumer credit policy experience a plus. - Expert-level knowledge of agency and investor underwriting guidelines, including Conventional, FHA, VA, Jumbo, and Non-QM loan programs. - Expert proficiency in Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Product Advisor (LP/LPA). - Advanced knowledge of federal and state regulations governing mortgage origination and fulfillment, including TRID, RESPA, and CFPB compliance requirements. - Proficiency in reading and interpreting the 1003, Loan Estimates, and Closing Disclosures; ability to assess and document changes in circumstance triggering re-disclosure. - Advanced income calculation skills including salaried, self-employed, and complex borrower profiles; proficiency in qualifying ratios and loan-level pricing. - FHA DE Certification and VA SAR Certification preferred. - Knowledge of wet and dry closing distinctions a plus.
