Engineers in Solid Mechanics apply their knowledge of engineering mechanics, state-of-the-art computational simulation (finite element analysis) methods, material sciences and solid dynamics to solve a wide variety of complex structural-mechanical problems, to support the engineering of practical design solutions, to undertake risk assessments, and to assess manufacturing processes.
