• Help define the architecture to support millions of daily API requests • Build and scale infrastructure to send dozens of millions of emails per day • Improve high availability across distributed applications • Scale databases like Postgres and Clickhouse to ensure that they are performant • Enhance observability by using monitoring tools like Datadog • Refine disaster recovery plans to ensure that recovery is quick and reliable • Help to build our infrastructure with IaC frameworks like CDK and TF • Work with Typescript and Golang • Design and operate async pipelines (queues, streams, idempotency, retries, DLQs) that move tens of millions of messages per day • Be on-call rotation for critical services

• Participate with development squads in Scrum ceremonies (Refinement, Daily, Planning, etc.); • Architect and document solutions based on business needs, validating them through PoCs; • Create architectural artifacts, including schemas, flows, drawings and diagrams; • Guide the squads' Technical Leads on IT-related processes and procedures; • Plan architecture, costs (not necessarily monetary values) and performance for proposed solutions; • Validate integrations between applications (legacy, third-party, cloud vs on-premises, etc.); • Identify and propose improvements to existing solutions; • Document new processes and supported technologies; • Work with development teams to identify technical debt and propose adjustments based on standards set by architecture leadership; • Collaborate with the System Team and support deliveries.

• Lead the planning and execution of the migration from self-managed SQL Server on EC2 to AWS RDS (SQL Server) • Drive database cost optimization: right-sizing instances, evaluating reserved Instances, storage tiering, and eliminating unnecessary licensing costs • Upskill and mentor the existing Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations, RDS management, and cloud best practices • Establish cloud-native database monitoring, alerting, and performance baselines using Datadog and CloudWatch • Design and implement automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes using AWS Backup • Perform query optimization, index management, and capacity planning • Collaborate with the DevOps team on infrastructure automation (Terraform for RDS) • Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance for all database systems (encryption, access controls, audit logging) • Support the Hospice application team with database-related development needs • Evaluate future database modernization opportunities (PostgreSQL, Aurora) for the 2027 roadmap
