The codes are getting more complex at just the same time that the workforce is shrinking, posing a real challenge to maintaining high standards for building safety. Mason gives plan reviewers superpowers by flagging code violations with visual evidence and code citations - that way, code professionals can get an extra pair of eyes from their most patient coworker, Mason. Mason has saved plan reviewers as much as two hours on the architectural review of a new SFR. We are hiring a Principal Plan Review Engineer to bridge domain expertise, product, and go-to-market. This is a senior, high-trust role for someone who wants to shape how plan review evolves. You will not function as a traditional plan reviewer clearing projects. Instead, your time will be split roughly as follows: - ~70% customer-facing: working directly with customers, building trust, supporting onboarding, and representing Mason in the field - ~30% product-facing: guiding engineers on how codes are interpreted and applied in practice This role requires frequent travel (3–4 trips per month) for customer visits, onboarding, and industry events. The engineering team will be based in San Francisco, but you can be remote if you are based outside of the SF Bay Area.
