Role Description AKIVA is seeking a Safety & Technical Training Lead to own the development and delivery of Safety Management System (SMS) training, technical content, and promotional materials for the FAA Air Traffic Organization. You will design SMS training within the FAA's enterprise Learning Management System, deliver Safety Risk Management courses on a regular cadence, and partner with the assessment and analytics teams to keep training, briefings, and supporting documentation aligned to current ATO SMS policy and guidance. Key Responsibilities - Develop formal ATO SMS training content within the FAA's enterprise Learning Management System and verify alignment with current ATO SMS policy, the ATO SMS Manual, and ATO Safety Guidance. - Conduct Safety Risk Management training courses on the published training schedule (anticipated approximately every other month). - Develop, implement, and maintain repositories for SMS best practices, employee suggestions, and lessons learned. - Develop and produce SMS promotional materials, including brochures, posters, videos, and summit/workshop training materials that promote safety awareness. - Draft SMS briefings, white papers, articles, and newsletter content for delivery to internal and external audiences, including ATO Service Units, FAA Lines of Business, and Executive leadership. - Develop SMS tools, techniques, and guidance documents (including Safety Risk Management documentation recommendations and updates) consistent with FAA AMS policy. - Develop monthly and/or quarterly Safety Performance Reports. - Support audit and assessment activities by drafting and editing audit and assessment documentation, including planning schedules, briefings, strategies, plans, procedures, reports, and white papers. - Support safety analytics and tools workstreams by contributing training content for new dashboards, capabilities, and data products. - Coordinate with the Program Manager on training milestones, deliverable status, and risk; contribute to monthly status reports and program management reviews. - Ensure all training and deliverables are Section 508 compliant. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Engineering, Safety Sciences, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field (equivalent experience may be substituted). - 8+ years of professional experience in technical training development, instructional design, or a closely related discipline. - 5+ years leading training programs in a regulated, high-availability environment. - Demonstrated experience developing and delivering Safety Management System or comparable safety training content. - Demonstrated experience producing federal-grade briefings, white papers, and policy support documents. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and executive-level business-writing skills. - Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and at least one Learning Management System. - Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential. - Must be authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Aviation, Engineering, Education, or related discipline. - Project Management Professional (PMP) or comparable program management credential. - Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), ATD Master Trainer, or comparable instructional design credential. - Prior FAA Air Traffic Organization or aviation-industry training experience. - Familiarity with the FAA enterprise Learning Management System (eLMS), ATO SMS Manual, and ATO Safety Guidance. - Section 508 Trusted Tester certification. - Familiarity with AI-assisted instructional design, content-generation, and assessment tools.
