Job Description

Construction/Civil Engineer, Part Time

Leidos

• Prepare summary trip reports within two working days of trip completion. • Perform on-site surveys to develop designs and detailed reports. • Prepare construction drawings and prepare site-specific specifications and contract documents and independent cost estimates. • Review contractor design and construction submittals. • Provide timely responses for requests for information and project related submittals. • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction project activities to meet milestones and deadlines working directly with stakeholders and contractors. • Assist with strategic and tactical planning, monitoring, and evaluating progress, and providing advice and support. • Compile and complete project documents. • Provide technical engineering support for all phases of assigned new construction and renovation projects. • Participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) on all assigned projects and provide recommended resolutions on all items relating to engineering. • Perform engineering studies for feasibility and cost versus benefit. • Provide technical input to the Government Technical Interpreter in actions to plan, budget, program, and coordinate the development of engineering projects. • Develop project drawings in accordance with the FAA Standard/guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • Civil Engineering Degree required from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
  • Minimum 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Project Engineer and/or Resident Engineer with Civil Engineering Design and experience with tower, shelter and similar structure projects.
  • Knowledge of multiple of the following, Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) facilities:
  • Metal equipment towers
  • Commercial/Industrial Structures
  • Roof Replacements
  • Emergency and battery backup systems
  • Small HVAC systems
  • Remote site work
  • Road design
  • Concrete Site grading
  • Equipment shelters
  • Concrete foundations
  • Structural Environmental permitting (NEPA, ARAP, stormwater, etc)
  • Lightning protection and grounding
  • Hazmat (Pb, Asbestos) abatement
  • Construction risk management
  • Utility layout design: water, power, comm, sewer
  • Knowledge of Project management software (CWP, Primavera, Microsoft project, etc) and/ or Computer aided design (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ProjectWise).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability.
  • Prior FAA experience desired.
  • Knowledge/Experience of Airports desired.
  • Certified Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Registered Professional Engineer in good standing in the United States.
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
