About the Role: We are currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team within the primary design area in a full-time permanent role based in the Melbourne CBD. This role will lead and deliver high‑quality primary electrical designs across a diverse portfolio of projects including solar farms, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), distribution, sub‑transmission and terminal station infrastructure. In this senior technical role, you will provide engineering expertise and leadership, contribute to project scoping and cost estimations, and ensure the delivery of safe, compliant and innovative primary design solutions. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety and customer outcomes. No two days will be the same as you work with a highly skilled and successful team! This role on occasion will require travel to project sites location across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and New Zealand. Other key duties and responsibilities: - Deliver high‑quality primary electrical designs for substations (up to 500kV), solar farms, BESS, and associated systems in line with standards, safety requirements and customer needs - Lead and contribute to scoping, design development and technical advice, ensuring projects are delivered to scope, timeframe and budget - Prepare, review and verify engineering designs, drawings and calculations, including those produced by others and external suppliers - Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary design teams to deliver coordinated, practical and compliant solutions - Support and drive innovation and continuous improvement in design processes, tools and standards - Provide technical leadership, including supervising non‑prescribed engineering work and mentoring engineers - Participate in field investigations, reporting and compliance assurance to support high‑quality project outcomes. To succeed in this role you will have: - Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with current RPEQ and RPEV/BLA registration - Strong expertise in primary substation design for distribution and sub‑transmission networks (AS 2067 compliant) - Proven experience delivering complex substation designs up to 500kV (highly regarded) - Advanced capability in AutoCAD (or equivalent) and digital engineering tools - Demonstrated ability to perform detailed electrical design studies and calculations - 10+ years' experience in the power or electrical utility industry - Proven technical leadership, including mentoring engineers and leading design teams - Strong communicator with experience developing and implementing engineering design standards. Your role - System Architecture: Lead the design and integration of SC1/Class 1E (safety-related) and SC2 and SC3 electrical systems, including Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) distribution. - Analysis & Modeling: Perform complex electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, motor starting, and protective relay coordination using ETAP software using ANSI / IEC standards. - Prepare Electrical Engineer Deliverables: Prepare electrical engineering deliverables such as Requirements Specifications, Electrical Load Lists, One-lines, Calculations, Schematics and 3-Line lines. Role Description Everforth ECS is seeking an Electrical Engineer to work remotely. Please Note: This position is contingent upon additional funding. Everforth ECS is looking for someone who has had design integration experience with shipboard electrical systems to become a valuable member of an engineering team providing vessel construction management of research ships. This is a fully remote position which will require some travel.
