Analyst – Sustainability Data

Circular Action Alliance

• Analysis and Model Building • Develop and maintain analytical models to assess the performance and potential of CAA’s investments to achieve our goals as outlined in statute and in our program plan in each state. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, analyze, and interpret data related to strategic modeling projects including supply and recovery estimates for each state program. • Work with Finance to utilize historical costs for future projections. • Prepare reports and presentations that communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders. • Maintain and update the Cost to Manage model – a model that is critical for CAA’s approved fee setting methodology. • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes related to recycling and printed paper and packaging EPR. • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality in all analyses and reporting. • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Business, Engineering, Scientific, IT, Marketing or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with solid waste and recycling data analysis preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with data analysis and data visualization required.

Travel Requirements: This position may require travel to complete work assignments or attend meetings. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in a field such as Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related. - Two to Five (2 – 5) years of corporate financial analysis or accounting experience including One to Two (1 – 2) years in public accounting. - An additional 2 years of relevant financial analyst experience can be considered in lieu of the degree. - Strong analytical skills; able to interpret and translate financial results. - Intermediate modeling and forecasting proficiency. - Ability to communicate findings to non-financial stakeholders. Requirements - Develop portions of corporate budgets and multi-period financial forecasts. - Analyze departmental spending, financial performance, and internal cost allocations across business units and support functions. - Identify drivers of financial variances and recommend corrective actions. - Perform monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals. - Analyze overhead, indirect rates, and shared service costs (G&A, fringe, corporate allocations). - Prepare internal management reports, dashboards, and financial summaries for business and functional leaders. - Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and financial explanations. - Maintain accurate financial data in enterprise systems; collaborate with accounting and operational teams. - Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies and applicable federal cost. - Assist in improving financial workflows, controls, and reporting tools.
