Senior Product Line Manager

Role Description The Senior Product Line Manager (PLM) role has full product level responsibility including and not limited to P&L responsibility at a product level for the entire UPS line of products at IntelliPower. The Senior PLM is responsible for the concept to end-of-life product marketing activities for assigned products and/or product lines. This includes: - Providing competitive analyses - Properly positioning and promoting products in the market - Defining product features and options - Coordinating product continuous improvement or corrective actions This role requires leading all marketing efforts working cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and operations to ensure that assigned products are defined and supported in such a manner that customers perceive the value and desirability of the products in the customers’ applications. We are looking for this role to be based in our San Diego, CA office, but are open to remote, fully remote, or hybrid arrangements for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities - Establish relationships with key customers to get VOC input on new product concepts. - Study and understand our products and research our competition’s products to define advantages and pitfalls. - Architect the product roadmap for the business, including definition, creation, and execution of product area responsibilities. - Articulate a strategic plan that is logical, appropriate, and data-driven. - Own new product development and review assumptions and processes for success both technically and financially. - Review assigned product pricing relative to margins and competitive products, making price change recommendations. - Work closely with sales, engineering, and others to define new products, including technical requirements and market specifics. - Participate in the new product development (NPD) and launch process with primary authorship responsibilities for CA and MRDs. - Lead technical and commercial discussions with customers related to new product engagement or “voice of the customer” market research. - Provide marketing application support for assigned products, including research and writing application notes and marketing bulletins. - Oversee marketing launch activities for new or updated products, including user manual generation, ads, sales training, and press releases. - Support departmental market research activities to become a “resident expert” on assigned market segments. - Review modified standard product requests for technical and financial feasibility, including return on investment criteria. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. - 10 years of technical application, customer support, or sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Legal right to work in the U.S. and authorized to access export-controlled information and source code. Desired Qualifications - Product management experience, including leading new product introductions and stage gate review processes. - Ability to provide a high-level customer touch while advancing issues to closure. - Ability to present issues with respective solutions to senior management clearly and concisely. - Detail-oriented and well organized. - Positive, optimistic attitude; enjoys communicating with clients via phone, email, and in-person. - Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to present technical concepts clearly. - Highly committed to understanding the customer perspective. - Experience using and developing ATE test systems, including test program development using LabView, LabWindows/CVI, Visual Studio, or similar tools is a plus. - Ability to work under minimum supervision using pre-established guidelines and instructions. - Ability to provide technical leadership to resolve open technical issues with the product and client applications. - Ability to lead junior staff in troubleshooting and diagnosis of client application issues. - Prior military experience. - Work experience in a related industry.
