Role Description SAS Managed Cloud Services (MCS) is seeking a Technical Architect with a passion for delivering exceptional customer outcomes through application engineering and integration design for SAS Viya solutions on Azure and AWS. This role focuses on designing, engineering, and standardizing how SAS applications and third-party software integrate, deploy, and operate on top of the SAS Viya platform within our managed cloud environments. You will help ensure consulting teams and customers have the tools, patterns, and engineering guidance required to successfully build, deploy, and operate custom solution workloads at scale. You will partner closely with platform engineering, consulting, and operations teams to translate solution requirements into repeatable application architectures, enabling faster delivery, improved reliability, and consistent customer experiences. This is an early to mid-career level job As a Technical Architect-Application Engineering, you will: - Design and guide application architectures built on SAS Viya solutions, including integration with third-party services, data platforms, identity providers, and enterprise systems. - Establish engineering patterns and reference implementations that enable consistent development and operation of custom solution workloads across Azure and AWS. - Partner with consulting and customer delivery teams to enable successful implementation of solution architectures and integrations. - Define best practices for application configuration, deployment workflows, and lifecycle management within cloud-native environments. - Improve developer and operator experience by simplifying application onboarding, deployment, and troubleshooting processes. - Promote secure-by-design engineering practices aligned with organizational security and compliance requirements. - Evaluate emerging technologies and integration approaches to enhance SAS solution capabilities and customer outcomes. - Participate in technical communities and contribute thought leadership aligned with SAS innovation initiatives. - Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support secure software development goals. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related field. - 5+ years of experience in technical architecture, application engineering, or solution integration roles. - Experience designing and implementing enterprise application integrations upon distributed system architectures. - Hands-on experience with Azure and AWS cloud environments. - Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices-based applications. - Understanding of APIs, service integration patterns, and application lifecycle management. - Demonstrated ability to produce technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and solution design documents. - Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. - Willingness to travel as business needs require. - Personal qualities aligned with SAS values: curiosity, passion, authenticity, and accountability. Requirements - Experience with SAS Viya, analytics platforms, or large-scale data processing environments. - Familiarity with Agile development and Scrum Product Owner practices. - Background in customer success, developer relations, or platform enablement.
