Job Description

VP, Business Intelligence

Rapid7

VP, Business Intelligence Rapid7 is looking for a visionary Business Intelligence Leader to build and own the enterprise information layer that connects raw data to business decisions - establishing a single trusted foundation for how the company measures performance and drives strategy. As AI reshapes how organizations interact with data, this leader will be at the center of that shift: ensuring Rapid7's data is structured, governed, and reliable enough to make AI-powered insights trustworthy. About the Team The VP of Business Intelligence will have the opportunity to take an established BI function to the next level. Rapid7 has strong data infrastructure, a talented technical data team, and analytics practitioners embedded across Finance, GTM, Marketing, and Product. This leader will build the connective tissue that brings it all together: a central BI team that owns enterprise metrics, governance, and the presentation layer, while partnering closely with functional analysts across the business who remain embedded in their respective teams. The result will be a unified, trusted view of company performance with AI-ready data assets that give every function faster, more confident access to the answers they need. This role works in close partnership with IT which owns the data engineering layer and collaborates across all business functions. About the Role The VP of Business Intelligence is the single point of accountability for enterprise data, defining, governing, and operationalizing our information assets across Rapid7. This leader will own the semantic layer ensuring metrics like ARR, bookings, churn, retention, and expansion are modeled explicitly, certified centrally, and trusted universally. The role is the primary prioritization layer between business stakeholders and the technical data team, acting as a translator and a referee. This leader will be able to think beyond dashboard and pipelines built; they will measure success by trust in data, speed of decision-making, and reduction in metric disputes. This leader will also be expected to bring a strong AI orientation to the role - actively applying AI tools to accelerate how the team works, surface insights faster, and drive meaningful change at a pace that traditional BI approaches can't match. In this role, you will: - Serve as the single owner of enterprise metric definitions - ARR, bookings, churn, retention, expansion - ensuring logic is transparent, approved, and consistently applied across all reporting surfaces. - Establish and enforce data governance: decision rights, ownership, standards, and what constitutes "decision-grade" data (accurate, complete, documented, and explainable). - Own the business BI roadmap and act as the primary prioritization layer between business stakeholders and the IT data engineering team. - Lead and grow a business BI organization structured around functional domains across Finance, GTM, Marketing, Product, among others. - Own the presentation layer: executive dashboards, curated reporting, and the Tableau platform (structure, user roles, governance, and access). - Partner with Finance, GTM, Marketing, Product, and source system owners (Salesforce, NetSuite) to understand analytical needs and sequence delivery. - Present enterprise metrics, data health, and BI strategy to the CFO, CIO, and executive leadership. - Identify and apply AI tools to accelerate BI work including anomaly detection, automated variance analysis, natural language querying, and intelligent alerting while ensuring the underlying data is governed well enough for AI outputs to be trusted. - Partner with Rapid7's corporate AI function to ensure BI data assets are AI-ready: well-defined, clean, and properly documented for use in broader AI initiatives across the company. - Ensure business events like churn, expansion, contraction are modeled explicitly so leaders understand not just what changed, but why. The skills you'll bring include: - 15+ years in business intelligence, analytics, or strategic finance, with demonstrated experience owning enterprise metrics in a complex, multi-product or multi-business-unit environment - Proven track record of driving data governance programs at scale, including establishing decision rights and data ownership across functions - Deep fluency in how SaaS business metrics (ARR, retention, bookings, etc) are constructed, interpreted, and defended to executive and board audiences - Experience with Tableau as a platform owner or governance lead; familiarity with Snowflake as a consumer of data models - Strong executive presence and communication skills; equally effective with data engineers and board members, and comfortable presenting complex analytical topics to non-technical stakeholders - Exceptional influence and change management skills, capable of driving data culture and process adoption across decentralized functions without direct technical execution authority. - Proven success in rationalizing or consolidating distributed and decentralized analytics environments into a unified, governed framework. - Background in cybersecurity, SaaS, or subscription software businesses preferred We know that the best ideas and solutions come from multi-dimensional teams. That's because these teams reflect a variety of backgrounds and professional experiences. If you are excited about this role and feel your experience can make an impact, please don't be shy - apply today.
