Accountant
Savannah River Mission Completion
• Analyzes financial and non-financial data and provides insight on current trends, fluctuations and variances. • Reconciles monthly bank statements including clearing checks and deposits and entering fees and other expenses. • Identifies stale dated checks and follows up as needed. • Ensures balance between general ledger accounts and bank statement. • Assists in the development and monitoring of forecasts. • Prepares month-end and quarter-end journal entries and other reconciliations. • Adjusts accruing liability such as salary and PTO. • Generates, analyzes and distributes monthly actual spend. • Responds to data and audit requests through analysis and reporting of data. • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with representatives throughout the organization. • Extracts, uploads and integrates data from multiple systems. • Invoices, bills and provides a variety of reports. • Develops internal project plans and schedules. • Enters and posts cash receipts. • Generates required financial reports such as direct labor rates, unallowable costs, fee distribution and tracking. • Performs review and reports on processes, documentation, desktop and procedures. • Assists Disbursement group to meet segregation of duties requirements. • Performs Labor Distribution and Leave functions and processing. • Contributes to the development or revision of accounting policies and practices.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (degree may reflect business administration)
- Previous experience in handling and maintaining confidential information.
- Previous use of a computerized accounting system
- Demonstrated experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
- Demonstrated experience with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Demonstrated experience with governmental labor costing
