Role Description As an SSRS Report Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing and creating reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Working within an agile environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams applying solution design skills, strong technical knowledge, best practice design and code disciplines, and sound interpersonal skills to deliver high-quality reporting solutions across a range of technologies. - Complete all phases of the software development life cycle including analysis, requirement gathering, and development. - Utilize SSRS to design, develop, and maintain a diverse suite of reports, including tabular, matrix, and parameterized reports. - Liaise with key stakeholders across the business, understand business requirements, and translate them into effective report designs. - Thoroughly test and optimize report performance and ensure data accuracy. - Write SQL queries to extract, aggregate, and filter data to retrieve relevant information. - Complete development and configuration activities including clean-up, code reviews, bug-fixing post initial build, and support for troubleshooting and release activities. - Apply solution design skills and input into architecture. - Collaborate with team members to maintain quality standards using the Agile/Scrum methodology. - Ensure that code changes are peer-reviewed to ensure best practice coding standards are followed and compliance with data security and privacy standards adhered to. - Document report specifications, data source, and parameters. - Provide technical support for report-related issues and identify opportunities to enhance reporting capabilities. Qualifications - Strong interpersonal communication skills. - Proficiency in writing SQL queries to extract data from relational databases. - Proven experience in developing SQL reporting solutions – ideally utilizing Snowflake and MS-SQL. - Hands-on experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and report development. - Experience to design and develop various report types, including tabular, matrix, and parameterized. - Ability to validate for correctness, completeness, and data accuracy. - Ability to present your ideas with confidence to peers and to management. - An ability to apply both best practice and innovation, in equal measure, to deliver across a complex operating environment. - An analytical mindset to troubleshoot report issues and adaptability to changing requirements and priorities. - A talent for identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
