Role Description Emptor is looking for a Legal Operations Analyst to join our Operations team to support data analysis, legal documents interpretation, and background check reviews. This position requires knowledge on the structure of the Brazilian justice system and basic understanding of criminal procedure under Brazilian law. Analysts must also input data related to their queries and manipulate highly sensitive information on a daily basis. This position requires the ability to operate (process candidates) using Emptor’s API accordingly. Location: Remote in Latam - 8:00 AM UTC-5 to 8:00 PM UTC-5 Compensation: R$5.000,00 to R$6.000,00 (BRL) per month, based on experience Qualifications - Proficiency in English - Fluency in Portuguese - Availability for daily work and deliveries - Punctuality - Solid understanding of how the Brazilian criminal justice process works - Ability to read and interpret official Brazilian court documents in Portuguese - Clear written communication skills - Strong attention to detail and comfort applying structured criteria to ambiguous situations - Ability to work in a distributed/remote environment - Intermediate Excel Skills - Basic knowledge in GSuite features (Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc) - Basic understanding of search engines - Problem solving and investigative skills - Adaptable and proactive Requirements - General understanding of the Latam legal systems - Experience working with databases and spreadsheets - 40 hours per week/part time or weekends, depending on the type of contract Responsibilities & Functions - Review criminal record results sourced from official Brazilian public databases - Apply adjudication criteria to determine the relevance of a record and document findings clearly - Provide clear answers to questions related to the manual reviews performed - Act as an onboarding buddy for new team members, walking them through the various aspects pertaining to processing BGCs - Review the systems functionalities, in order to maintain quality, reporting to the developers any bug, difficulties, errors and/or suggestions, contributing to the correct or improved usage of the system and workflow - Attend team meetings and ceremonies on time - Ensure client data security Feedback, Communication & Collaboration - Actively seek out feedback from teammates, seniors, and manager, and work to use feedback as a tool for personal growth - Apply received feedback into learning habits to improve - Communicate effectively, clearly, concisely, and in an audience-oriented way, in written and verbal form - Actively listen to others and ensure they are understood - Pay attention to nonverbal and/or asynchronous communication (status updates, time zones, appropriate work environments, availability) - Actively participate in daily stand ups, sprint plannings, and sprint retrospectives depending on the team Business Impact Level General understanding of the impact of their own work and how it affects and impacts the team in general. The Senior Casualty Examiner is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, reserving, negotiation, and resolution of high‑exposure, high‑severity, and complex casualty claims, including large loss matters. This role requires advanced technical expertise, sound judgment, and strong communication skills. The Senior Casualty Examiner independently manages litigated and non‑litigated claims, identifies and addresses coverage issues, partners with defense counsel and external vendors, and supports the development of other claims professionals through collaboration and informal mentoring. Prior litigation experience and commercial claims handling, including construction defect claims, is preferred. Familiarity with claims handling in VA, PA, VT, ME, and NH is also preferred. What You’ll Do: - Investigate, evaluate, reserve, negotiate, and resolve high‑exposure and complex casualty claims in accordance with company guidelines and best practices. - Identify coverage issues and draft reservation of rights or denial letters, as appropriate. - Conduct thorough investigations, including obtaining recorded statements, reviewing police and medical records, and evaluating liability and damages. - Establish and maintain appropriate reserves supported by timely documentation and ongoing claim evaluation. - Manage litigated files in partnership with defense counsel, including strategy development, discovery oversight, and evaluation of settlement opportunities. - Prepare cases for and represent MMG at mediations, arbitrations, and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings. - Direct and manage independent adjusters, investigators, appraisers, experts, and other external vendors as needed. - Communicate clearly and professionally with insureds, claimants, attorneys, agents, medical providers, and internal business partners. - Identify subrogation opportunities and prepare files for recovery. - Develop and maintain positive working relationships with agents, independent adjusting firms, attorneys, and vendors. - Travel as required to perform essential job functions, attend meetings, training, or educational opportunities. - Perform other duties as assigned.
