Senior Data Engineer
SOFTSWISS
• Work with modern data stack and AI tools to build complex solutions • Design solutions to technical challenges and influence platform architecture • Research, develop and integrate new data processing tools and technologies • Build business-critical, robust and self-service data products using Apache Spark, Kafka, Delta Lake and other big data technologies • Ensure pipeline performance and data quality through scalable architecture and optimization • Refine data solutions as business requirements and technical constraints evolve • Collaborate with teams to understand data needs and support adoption of data products across the company
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with expertise in development, deployment, and integration
- Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (Scala, Java, Python or equivalent)
- Experience in data environments, such as Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, Data Marts, Data transformation concepts and working with large data volumes
- Experience in building ETL pipelines to perform feature engineering on large-scale datasets using Apache Spark and Delta Lake
- Experience with sourcing and modelling data from application APIs
- Experience with building stream-processing applications using Spark-Streaming, Kafka Streams or others
- Experience designing and implementing monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions for data pipelines using Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager or others
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Upper-intermediate proficiency in English and strong command of Russian.

This is a builder role , not a conceptual architect position. The Principal Data Platform Engineer is responsible for implementing and institutionalizing our data platform patterns-ingestion, modeling, data quality, and reliability-across products and teams. You will work closely with the Senior Director, architects and product engineering teams, translating architectural intent into repeatable, enforceable, and observable solutions . This role exists to ensure that our data strategy operates predictably at scale . Responsibilities: - Lead the design and implementation of a Medallion architecture on Azure Fabric, enabling efficient flow from raw to curated data. - Develop clear, well‑tested, and well‑documented code in Python/PySpark and SQL, following modern DataOps best practices. - Optimize Lakehouse performance using partitioning, indexing, and effective OneLake storage strategies to support large regulatory datasets. - Analyze real business problems and deliver pragmatic data solutions, keeping strategy grounded and execution focused. - Collaborate with product managers, developers, SREs, and engineers across levels and geographies to build high‑impact software. - Design systems with operability in mind, using monitoring and metrics to quickly diagnose pipeline failures and data quality issues. - Champion simplicity, reliability, manageability, scalability, extensibility, reusability, and performance. - Continuously identify and address technical debt, making it visible and resolving it proactively.
