Global Corporate Controller

Role Description The Corporate Controller reports directly to the CFO and functions as a hands-on leader within the Finance and Accounting team. The Controller is responsible for the company’s accounting operations in the US and Malaysia, with subscription sales into over 70 countries, as well as financial transactions, reporting and compliance functions. Most immediately, our Corporate Controller will help to lead the accounting for Staritas’ recent carveout, including the stand-up of accounting and transaction reporting systems. This includes building a high-performance team, implementing best-in-class systems and processes including NetSuite, Zone Advanced Billing, and Salesforce, and developing and implementing world-class reporting and analytics to drive critical data-based decision-making. Throughout, this role will collaborate as a key member of the management team to lead our accounting policies and principles, practices, procedures and initiatives, ensuring that we have the proper internal controls to maintain our books and records in accordance with GAAP. As our principal accounting leader, you will lead and perform technical accounting research, coordinate all external audits, provide accurate information for all tax filings, be a leader and mentor to the accounting team, while also having extensive interaction with our senior leadership team and our private equity owners. This is a highly visible role with high growth potential. Key Responsibilities: - Own and lead all accounting functions with accounting operations in the US and Malaysia. - Execute the carve-out including the stand up of financial systems and purchase accounting, as well as operations under our transition service agreement during the system implementations and ultimately TSA exit. - Be a strategic business partner to senior leadership, offering financial insights and recommendations to support the achievement of organizational goals. - Ensure accurate and timely presentation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and disclosures in accordance with US GAAP, as well as requirements in multi-national statutory financial information. - Envision and execute best practices in all areas of accounting, revenue recognition, procure to pay, invoice to collection, payroll, fixed assets, balance sheet account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes across the globe. - Take a lead role in systems implementation and developing the infrastructure to operate as a stand-alone company, including implementing the proper internal controls. - Lead the annual consolidated audit process, coordinating with the external auditors and internal team to facilitate a smooth audit with no surprises. - Manage the month-end close process and consolidation, along with coordinating with FP&A in developing and tracking KPI’s and reporting to senior management and the Board. - Monitor foreign exchange impact on the business and implement strategies to manage currency risk. - Maintain compliance with all regulations across geographies, regularly providing accurate data to our Tax advisors. - Measure and monitor efficiency of cash collections from customers, designing methods to reduce DSO. - Working with the FP&A leader, collaborate in designing accurate measures to design and monitor an accurate 13-week cash forecast. - Collaborate with team in setting accounting policies and principles. - Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative, caring, trusting, and high-performance culture. - Based on many years of senior leadership experience, provide coaching and development opportunities to leverage team member skills and interests, contributing in meaningful ways to their career growth. - Maintain comprehensive documentation in support of accounting positions and conclusions, including detailed technical memos on revenue recognition, purchase accounting, lease accounting, and other key areas. - Direct statutory audits and compliance in Malaysia and elsewhere as needed around the world. - Manage the direct and indirect tax function. Manage quarterly income tax provision and estimated federal and state income tax payments. Oversight and review of federal and state income tax filings. Ensure compliance with all relevant sales and use tax requirements. - Oversee review of new accounting literature to ensure company's compliance therewith. Advises CFO of potential impact of new accounting pronouncements. - Drives continuous improvement through a relentless commitment to ongoing process improvement by gaining buy-in to and leading successful change management efforts. - Partner with FP&A and operations in development of comprehensive financial plans, budgets, and forecasts. - Evaluate ROI on projects and investments, and recommend options. - Actively participate in the diligence, closing, and integration of M&A candidates as part of our inorganic expansion initiative. Qualifications - 20+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, with a successful track record as a Corporate Controller in a PE-owned, multi-national technology company. - Experience working in a private equity-owned company, where world-class standards are consistently expected and executed. - Comprehensive and well-rounded technical GAAP accounting skills, including software revenue recognition. - Proven leader who is effective in multi-tasking while collaborating with cross-functional teams, including management and private equity colleagues in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations, with deep experience in the SaaS industry. - Proficient knowledge of financial accounting applications, NetSuite accounting software experience a plus. - Hands-on individual who can contribute to all aspects of the finance function, including managing an accounting team in Malaysia. - Demonstrated ability to contribute operationally and strategically to the development and execution of business strategies. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. - Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. CPA preferred. MBA or other relevant certifications a plus. - Successfully operated in a demanding, fast-paced environment requiring focus and agility. - Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
