Develocity helps software teams achieve delivery excellence through deep observability, build and test acceleration, and AI-powered intelligence across the entire toolchain. We're investing deeply in making Develocity's unique data and decades of domain expertise accessible to both humans and AI agents, with trust, evidence, and explainability at the core of everything we build. We have partnered with the Apache Software Foundation, the Commonhaus Foundation, the Micronaut Foundation, and other OSS projects such as Spring, Quarkus, Kotlin, JUnit, AndroidX, and many more to bring the values of Develocity also to the OSS Community.

Job Description
Field Engineer
Gradle Technologies
Role Description As a Field Engineer at Gradle, you're the hands-on technical expert who connects our product to our customers. You advocate new approaches, drive adoption of new products or features with prospects and customers, build compelling demos that bring Develocity to life for their use case, and work alongside Sales, Sales Engineering, Product Management, and Engineering to uncover new opportunities and shape how the product evolves. Responsibilities - AI & product exploration: - Partner with the AI strategy team to find where Develocity's data and domain expertise can power AI-driven toolchain observability. - Stay current with the AI tooling landscape — LLMs, coding agents, agentic workflows — and evaluate their impact on the software supply chain. - Work with Product Management to investigate new product areas, evaluate emerging trends, and turn customer insights into roadmap input. - Customer engagement: - Serve as the technical expert in key customer engagements — demonstrating capabilities, articulating value, and gathering feedback for beta and early access programs. - Build rapid prototypes to validate new use cases and product hypotheses. - Create tailored demos that bring Develocity to life in the customer's environment. - Help Sales show prospects how Develocity fits their stack and solves their problems. - Enablement & feedback: - Develop go-to-market content — product positioning, demos, training — to enable Sales and Marketing on new features and product vision. - Channel customer feedback back to Product Management, Product Marketing, and Engineering. - Travel to customer sites and events (~20%). Qualifications - 10+ years of experience working in Field Engineering, Platform Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Technical Consulting or a combination of these, selling to enterprise environments. - Hands-on experience as a software engineer. - Hands-on experience with AI-powered products, agentic workflows, or LLM-based tooling – either building them or deeply integrating them into product strategy. - A “Product Journey" and “Customer Journey” mindset with a deep desire to deploy impactful solutions. - Excellent at prioritizing complex activities autonomously in the best interest of the Sales and Product Management teams. - Strong work ethic and can-do attitude. Preferred Qualifications - Familiarity and technical understanding of some, not necessarily all, DevOps SDLC tools, SDLC supply chain observability and build tools in particular: - Build tools (Maven, Gradle, Android, Bazel, npm, Python build/packaging tools, Docker, etc.) - CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitLab, TeamCity, GitHub Actions, Harness, ArgoCD, etc.) - Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.) - Artifact repositories (Artifactory, Nexus, etc.) - Observability tooling (Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, etc.) - SDLC Supply Chain Security Benefits - Work at the intersection of AI and developer tooling – one of the most consequential shifts in how software gets built. - Be part of a company that is actively building with AI and for the AI future, not just talking about AI. - Ability to work in a remote-first environment with flexible working hours. - Work on a fast-growing product with a clear vision for the future. - Close collaboration with an ambitious and experienced team and the opportunity to learn from them regardless of your experience level. - Opportunities for growth in your career and in leadership responsibilities. - In-person meetings, such as our annual company offsite (where previous locations have included France, Spain, and Italy), team meetings, and onboardings. - Contribute to leading solutions in the new industry of Developer Productivity Engineering and work with cutting-edge DPE tools and practices. - Competitive salaries and equity grants. Compensation The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary. The estimated base salary for this role is $160,000 - $210,000. Location Remote from anywhere in North America. While our team works remotely and is spread across the globe, we deeply value daily interactions and collaboration.
