Certified Coder – Surgery
WashU IT
• Reviews medical record documentation to determine appropriate billing codes • Codes evaluation and management to appropriate CPT code • Codes diagnosis to appropriate ICD-9 code • Meets with physicians to review documentation and tags files for follow up • Assists coders with medical terminology and policy interpretation
Job Requirements
- Must have one of the following coding credentials: AHIMA (CCA, CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H, CPC-H-A)
- Previous coding experience or equivalent to an associate’s degree in a related field preferred
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred
- Skills in Computer Systems, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Terminology
