• Serve as strategic counsel to Leadership and C-Suite on legal and regulatory developments that shape Energy Solutions’ business, translating risk into clear, commercially grounded recommendations • Partner with the executive team to identify, prioritize, and manage enterprise legal risk, and deliver proactive, business-forward advice that enables decision-making at the speed of the business • Evaluate contracts prior to execution to identify legal and commercial risk, negotiate favorable terms, and confirm alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies • Anticipate legal and commercial risks in new business lines and design contract structures and templates that enable growth while protecting the company • Lead, mentor, and develop the Legal, Contracts, and Compliance team, refining a collaborative, high-performing legal function aligned to the company’s strategic priorities • Shape the development and implementation of organizational contract requirements, policies and procedures that align with the companies’ mission, values, and strategic direction, while maintaining best practices and protection against legal, regulatory, and liability issues • Determine and execute litigation and dispute resolution strategy, directing outside counsel as needed and owning case outcomes on behalf of the company • Select, direct, and manage outside counsel as needed to deliver high-quality results efficiently and on budget
Job Requirements
- Juris doctor from an accredited law school required
- 10 years of legal experience
- In-depth experience with contract negotiations and commercial law
- Legal leadership experience (supervising attorneys, para-legals, and contracts professionals)
- Proven experience building, leading, and mentoring a high-performing legal team
- Executive presence and the ability to communicate credibly and persuasively with the Board, C-Suite, clients, regulators, and staff at all levels
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, with the ability to distill complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance
- Strong legal writing, project management and record keeping skills
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Office and a contract management platform
- Ability to work well with a variety of team members and thrive independently
