Chief Engineer
Leidos
• Lead cross functional teams development and implementation of scalable cloud-native solutions • Ensure best practices across architecture, development, deployment, and security • Responsible for the overall integrity, quality, and completeness of technical work performed and associated deliverables • Apply systems engineering principles throughout the systems lifecycle phases • Interact with the Government regarding Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts • Mentor, guide and supervise teams for related activities • Prepare detailed technical documentation to support development and operational processes
Job Requirements
- Bachelors and fifteen (15) years or more of experience
- Masters and twelve (12) years or more of experience
- Active Secret clearance at a minimum required to start
- US citizenship required
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or equivalent (IAT-2)
- Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and practices
- Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and/or Kanban
- Strong knowledge of security principles, including threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and encryption techniques
- Deep understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Argo CD)
- Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Must have experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Bash, Go)

• Work with customer teams and internal customer success teams to seamlessly integrate Zipline systems into both existing and newly designed infrastructure, including creating site layouts and related technical documents. Engage with partners’ internal teams to ensure alignment on expectations and timelines. • Understand our internal and external customer’s business and needs and work with our internal engineering and business teams to refine and roadmap necessary product changes to ensure the successful deployment of the Ground Systems infrastructure. Maintain the high level customer specs and cut-sheets for the Zipline Systems. • Develop and lead pre-construction strategies to streamline entitlements and permits for Ziplines Ground System and Site Infrastructure projects. • Build and maintain strong relationships with Customer teams and technical staff, City Managers, staff, and City Council members and inspectors to facilitate smooth approvals and permit completion from Planning and Zoning commissions and AHJ’s. Collaborate closely with jurisdictions, land use counsel, Real estate team, and our Legal team to create pathways for deployments in evolving customer and regulatory landscapes. • Understand and mitigate the preconstruction, construction, operational and sustaining risks associated with each project. • Manage many parallel small construction projects, site infrastructure installments, construction contractors, and additional real estate development projects. • Source and manage general contractors and subcontractors across various trades (construction, assembly, electrical) during bid, pre-construction, construction and site commissioning project phases. Evaluate all options and a lean budget, select best vendors to ensure reliable and quality services and products. • Develop and implement solutions to problems/projects/applications and associated systems from 0-1-100 across parallel projects and initiatives.
• Review fire protection, suppression and smoke control system designs and provide recommendations. • Conduct inspections of differing types of occupancies to identify and quantify fire/life safety-related risks. • Facilitate risk review boards and ensure coordination of safety findings across engineering, operations, and management teams.
