Engineering Manager, Perception
Blue River TechnologyOur mission is to create intelligent machinery that solves monumental challenges for our customers.
• Own the entire data, perception ML, and analytics stack, from raw sensor ingest to optimized edge inference and fleet-level performance visibility. • Lead a small perception team while remaining deeply hands-on. • Be accountable for how data is collected, curated, trained, deployed, measured, and improved in production. • Drive technical excellence ensuring models thrive on-vehicle in unpredictable off-road environments. • Champion a 'hardware-first' mindset for real-time inference and resource efficiency on NVIDIA hardware. • Maintain rigorous code quality and system design standards through mentorship and hands-on reviews. • Shift focus from 'model chasing' to 'data curation,' building active learning loops that turn field failures into training successes. • Bridge the gap between offline validation and real-world autonomy outcomes; ensure the team optimizes for vehicle performance, not just loss functions. • Provide high-signal leadership translating complex ML trade-offs into actionable insights for leadership and cross-functional partners. • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Field Ops to ensure fleet analytics dashboard remains the 'source of truth' for autonomy readiness.
Lunon is the world's first AI-native consulting firm. We run engagements for private equity firms and global enterprises across the full spectrum of consulting work. The work is institutional quality, delivered in a fraction of the time and cost. We believe the traditional consulting model is fundamentally broken. Firms charge $500 an hour for analysts doing work that AI can do better, faster, and more rigorously. We are building the platform that proves it, and delivering the engagements that demonstrate it. We have raised a $2M pre-seed round backed by General Catalyst, SV Angel, and top Silicon Valley names, with advisors across the world's leading PE firms and consulting practices. What you'll own As Lunon's Software Engineering Intern, you will work directly with the founding engineering team on the platform powering our client engagements. The platform is where hundreds of millions of dollars in deals get analyzed and decided. Engagements run end to end on it, from initial scoping through live AI-driven research and analysis, to polished reports and deliverables that clients access directly. This is not a "build an internal tool and present at the end of summer" internship. You will own features end to end, ship them to real clients, and see the impact immediately. How you'll work - Your workflow, your tools, your call. Claude Code, Cursor, whatever gets the best result fastest. - You ship it yourself. No handoffs, no waiting on someone to unblock you. - You stay on top of the best tools as they emerge and bring that to the team. - You hit a wall, you find a way through it. That's the job. Most internships will micromanage you, hand you projects you didn't choose, and slow down your learning at every turn. This one is built on velocity, ownership, and grind. Must haves You are a good fit for Lunon if you are a formidable engineer. This means you stop at nothing to accomplish your goal. We don't care much about your current skills or even what you've done before. We care that you will figure out anything you set your mind to. You must be autonomous. There is no ticket queue. There is no hand-holding. You pick up the work, figure out what needs to be done, and do it. You must be AI-fluent. Claude Code or Cursor should be your default. You use AI to punch above your weight, not as a crutch. You must be pragmatic. Lunon is a startup so something is always on fire. Some things will be broken, some things will be unclear, and some things will change overnight. You figure it out and keep going. You must be gritty. You pick the hardest, highest-quality option regardless of the effort it takes and you push through it. Prior startup experience is strongly preferred. If you have already survived the chaos of an early-stage company, you know what you are walking into. Your GitHub should tell a story. We are not expecting dozens of polished repos, but we want to see someone who lives in code — consistent activity, real projects, and enough experience that branches, PRs, and merge conflicts are second nature. Why Lunon - Young, hungry founders. No bureaucracy, no politics, just building. - Small team, high trust, no one looking over your shoulder. - $1,000 tools stipend to set you up with everything you need to ship. - Early model access through an OpenAI partnership. - Remote About the interview - 30-minute intro call with founders - Take-home build challenge - 30-minute interview with Dhruv (CEO) and Connor (CTO)
