About the Role As a Cloud Engineer, you will join our Cloud Platforms team within the Infrastructure and Cloud Services domain, responsible for building and operating our cloud platforms. You advocate for clean, reusable code, have strong opinions on git branching strategies, and are well‑versed in cloud security principles. With experience across multiple cloud platforms, you bring expertise in security, networking, software engineering, and SRE to our cloud estate-always starting with code. An advocate for open source, you rely on git, bash, Docker, and Kubernetes as core tools of your daily work. As a Cloud Engineer, you are expected to: - Work in a collaborative team to explore business initiatives and solutions - Build infrastructure using code and follow software engineering best practices - Utilize knowledge of distributed system design including cloud security, scalability, data, and storage - Leverage AI powered tools and platforms (e.g., Copilot-style tooling) to improve developer productivity, automate operations, and enhance system reliability - Challenge the status quo, whilst always looking for opportunities for continuous improvement - Forget the suit stereotype - we encourage you to dress for your day What will you bring? To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: - Must have 5+years of relevant experience. - Experience building, operating and securing Cloud technology at scale, using either AWS or GCP - Comfortable coding in one or more languages (bash, JavaScript, Golang, Python, Powershell, etc), and you use these skills to automate as much as possible - Specialize experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform along with continuous integration/delivery tooling such as CodeFresh / Github Actions etc. - Experience using Cloud‑Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) tools to improve cloud security posture, including capabilities such as vulnerability management, misconfiguration detection etc. - Extensive experience working within cross-functional, agile or continuous delivery teams - A growth mindset and desire to continually learn and share new techniques and ideas You're not expected to have 100% of these skills. Subject Matter Expert (SME) Location: Remote (U.S. Based - EST Time Zone Preferred) Employment Type: 12-Month Contract (Extensions) Primary Focus: Messaging, Security & Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Position Summary We are seeking a high-level Subject Matter Expert to provide technical leadership and operational excellence across our enterprise IT ecosystem. This critical role is responsible for the health, security, and optimization of our global messaging platforms, core virtualization infrastructure, and identity services. The ideal candidate brings an "expert-level" depth in Exchange (Hybrid/On-Prem) and Proofpoint, combined with the broad infrastructure experience required to manage complex VMware and Azure environments. You will be the primary point of contact for high-impact migrations, security hardening, and automation initiatives. Key Responsibilities Messaging & Collaboration (SME Focus) - Exchange Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain Exchange Server (2013–2019) and Microsoft 365 hybrid environments. - M365 Migrations: Lead complex tenant-to-tenant or on-premises to cloud migrations, ensuring zero data loss and minimal user disruption. - Security & Compliance: Manage and optimize Proofpoint email security solutions, including DLP, encryption, threat protection, and policy development. - Protocol Governance: Implement and audit email security standards including SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. Infrastructure & Identity Management - Cloud & Directory Services: Administer Active Directory and Azure AD, managing identity/access protocols such as OAuth, SAML, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). - Virtualization: Manage and provision VMware-based virtualized Windows server infrastructure, focusing on performance tuning and scalability. - Security Investigation: Partner with security teams to investigate and remediate email-related threats and infrastructure incidents.
