We have a continued focus on growth over the next five years. As a part of the growth plan, we are seeking an experienced leader to head our Dams and Water Resources group in Melbourne. Reporting to the Water Business Leader - Melbourne, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our people, projects, and future growth across the water sector. You'll work closely with senior leaders locally and nationally to drive collaboration, support business development, and enhance our market presence. Alongside leading a high‑performing consulting team, you'll remain actively involved in delivering high‑quality dam engineering and/or water resource modelling and design engineering solutions, for a diverse client base. You'll provide strong leadership across your Dams and Water Resources group, supporting your Team Leaders (if applicable) to ensure alignment with our vision, strategy and culture. With a clear understanding of the Melbourne water industry dams and water resources market and project pipeline, you'll play a hands‑on role in positioning and proposal development, leading or supporting pursuits depending on scale and complexity. You'll work closely with the Business Leader, Project Management and Commercial Leader, Market Leader and Practice Leaders, as well as peers across regions, to drive coordinated, high‑quality outcomes for our clients. Specifically, your responsibilities will include: - Supporting the Business Leader in driving both short- and long‑term Water AU strategy initiatives while fostering a collaborative, success‑oriented, inclusive culture that promotes engagement, alignment with core values, and balanced influence across teams. - Supporting the Business Leader to initiate and manage business development opportunities, prepare proposals, actively participate in and lead client service through establishing and maintaining strong relationships. - Responsible for team utilisation, and monitoring and maintaining the correct staffing level and shape based on current and future workloads for the group, and to support needs of other regions where required. - Foster authentic leadership, open communication, and a collaborative culture to enhance team cohesion, performance, and continuous improvement. - Participate in projects as either Project Manager, Project Technical Leader or other substantive technical or delivery roles. - Responsible for the team's talent management lifecycle including but not limited to; recruitment suggestions, career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development. - Maintaining awareness of staff mental health and overall wellbeing and actively fostering a positive working culture in partnership with Team Leaders (where applicable). - Work with partner Group Leaders (GLs) / Team Leaders (TLs) locally and in other regions to drive collaboration and work sharing across the BC. The Group Leader position is a function, in addition to an employee's substantive technical/project contribution role. GENERAL PURPOSE: Mitigate risk for the company and drive engagement by managing timely responses to Associate concerns raised through open-door channels.
