Vena Solutions

Senior Manager, Developer Experience Department: Platform Enablement Employment Type: Full Time Location: Canada - Remote (0002) Reporting To: Brent Reeves Compensation: $170,000 - $230,000 / year Description This is a flexible position and has the option of working in our Toronto office full time, hybrid throughout the week or working entirely remotely. Candidates located within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) will be given preference. Vena is looking for a Senior Manager, Developer Experience (DevEx) to join our SaaS Technology and Operations (STO) team. This role is ideal for a leader who is passionate about transforming how software is built by combining platform engineering, developer experience, and GenAI-first development practices. As the leader of Developer Experience at Vena, you will define and execute a strategy that reimagines the software development lifecycle through AI-assisted engineering, intelligent automation, and modern developer platforms. Your mandate is to significantly improve developer productivity, accelerate delivery, and elevate code quality across the organization by embedding AI and automation directly into everyday workflows. This role goes beyond traditional DevOps or tooling leadership. You will act as a thought leader in GenAI-enabled software development, continuously evaluating and introducing new capabilities that enhance how engineers design, build, test, and deploy software. You will partner closely with Product & Development teams to identify friction in the developer journey, obtain feedback via DevEx surveys and other mechanisms, and deliver scalable solutions that reduce cognitive load and unlock faster, more predictable delivery. We are looking for a leader who thrives at the intersection of technology strategy, platform engineering, and people leadership—someone who can balance hands-on technical depth with organizational impact, and who is motivated to shape the future of software development at Vena. How You'll Make an Impact - Lead and grow a globally distributed team across Canada and India while partnering closely with the Sr. Director of STO & Strategic Initiatives to define and execute a forward-looking Developer Experience strategy centred on GenAI-first software development. - Lead the adoption and integration of AI-assisted development capabilities (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, internal AI agents), embedding them into the developer workflow to improve engineering velocity, code quality, test effectiveness, and overall productivity. - Define and operationalize a GenAI-first development model, identifying high-impact opportunities across the product development lifecycle (PDLC) for automation, augmentation, and intelligent tooling. - Own the strategy and delivery of Vena’s internal developer platform, including CI/CD, source control, artifact management, templated bff services and developer self-service capabilities, with a focus on reducing friction and cognitive load for engineers. - Partner with Product & Development teams to identify bottlenecks in the developer journey and deliver scalable, high-leverage solutions that improve speed and quality of delivery. - Stay current with industry trends in Developer Experience, Platform Engineering, and AI-driven development, rapidly evaluating and introducing new capabilities that provide a competitive advantage. - Mentor and develop engineers and emerging leaders, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence. We'd Love to See - 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, or Developer Experience-related roles. - 4+ years of experience in a leadership role (Team Lead or Manager), with experience managing distributed teams. - Strong understanding of Developer Experience and Platform Engineering concepts, including internal developer platforms and productivity optimization. - Familiarity with developer productivity and delivery metrics (e.g., DORA metrics, flow metrics) and their application in improving engineering performance. - Experience with AI-assisted development tools and a strong interest in applying GenAI to improve the software development lifecycle. - Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority. - Proven ability to define and execute on a technical roadmap supporting a broader engineering organization. - Strong programming and software engineering fundamentals, with experience delivering production systems. - Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) and infrastructure-as-code practices. - Strong sense of ownership and accountability for team outcomes and organizational impact. The annual base salary range for this role is 170,000 - 230,000 CAD. Our salaries are tailored to roles, levels and locations. Your individual pay within this range is influenced by factors like work location, skills, experience and education. As you progress in your role, your compensation may adapt, offering flexibility for growth beyond initial levels. For specifics, your recruiter will provide details and address any questions during the hiring process.

About us Corner Health is an early-stage technology company building the operating system for independent primary care. We give Nurse Practitioners (NPs) everything they need to start and run their own practices — from billing and insurance infrastructure to AI-powered workflow automation. We’re positioned to be the fastest growing in-person primary care company ever. Corner Health was co-founded by Lava Sunder and Anne Gifford and has raised a Series A backed by top investors, as well as the founders of DoorDash, Commure, Grow Therapy, Kindred, Culdesac & more. About the Role At Corner Health, we’re building something fundamentally different: a network of hyper-local, independent, in-person primary care practices powered by modern technology. This is a completely new model of care. Today, 88% of patients prefer a provider powered by Corner Health vs. elsewhere, and patients return at 2× the national average - not because of marketing, but because the experience actually works. As our Head of Payor Relations, you will be the strategic architect and primary owner of our payor strategy. This is a high-visibility, high-impact leadership role where you will build the payor function from the ground up, and serve to communicate the value of Corner Health to our payor partners. This includes optimizing reimbursement, and accelerating partnerships to drive. You’ll work closely with our founders in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. If you thrive in ambiguity, love turning strategy into execution, and want to shape how innovative healthcare solutions reach more patients through payors, this is the role for you. What you’ll work on - Build & Lead Payor Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive payor relations and contracting strategies, focusing primarily on commercial insurance partnerships, to expand network inclusion, optimize reimbursement, and drive sustainable growth - Relationship Building: Serve as the primary face of the company to payors - cultivate deep, trust-based partnerships that go beyond contracts to foster collaboration, co-create solutions, and enhance our payor brand presence. - Contracting & Negotiation: Lead end-to-end payor contracting processes—including RFPs, negotiations, term sheets, and execution - Creative Partnerships: Drive innovative partnership initiatives that creatively leverage payor relationships to reach members earlier, increase engagement, and deliver substantially higher value. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams (product, clinical, finance, legal, marketing) to implement partnerships and support data-driven payor submissions. What you’re like - You have 5–7+ years of progressive experience in payor relations, market access, or health plan partnerships. - You have a proven track record negotiating and managing payor contracts with demonstrable impact on reimbursement, network status, and revenue growth. - You have a strong business development and relationship-management skills, with comfort engaging C-suite and decision-makers at health plans. - You are comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment with high ownership, ambiguity, and rapid iteration. What would set you apart - You have experience building a payor relations function from scratch or scaling it in a growth-stage company. - You have experience in primary care and/or in Arizona and Washington. - You have familiarity with using data & analytics to support payor value propositions Benefits - Competitive salary & equity compensation - Top-tier health and dental - Health & wellness stipend - Eligible to participate in company-sponsored 401(k) plan What we're like You’re joining an early-stage company - it’s important to learn more about what we’re like! We're a small team with high ownership and high autonomy. We are motivated by the providers we get to know, and the patient lives we impact. We love celebrating when one of our providers hits a patient growth milestone, when we see a stellar review written by a patient who finally feels listened to, or when we ship a quick feature request that a provider has (our fastest time from request → live was 12 minutes!) We use best-in-class tools to move fast and punch above our weight, and the work we do has a direct, tangible impact on people's health and lives, and we feel that every day. Lastly - one of our team values is "Life is short - it's OK to laugh". Whether it's late-night team dinners, mini golf, or just jamming on new ideas for our providers - we work hard and have fun doing it. Corner Health is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status or any other legally protected characteristic.
