• Own the technical architecture and long-term roadmap for Devices Cloud systems — device connectivity, telemetry ingest, state management, command/control, and data pipelines — ensuring they are scalable, secure, and resilient at Life360's scale. • Define and drive system-level technical direction across multiple teams, identifying architectural trade-offs, resolving cross-team design conflicts, and aligning engineering efforts with company strategy. • Lead AI-native engineering practices for Devices Cloud: architect agentic workflows, codify patterns for AI-assisted spec writing, code generation, test coverage, and incident response — and partner with org leadership to extend these playbooks broadly. • Partner with firmware, mobile, product, and platform teams to define APIs, integration standards, and device-driven workflows that translate cleanly across the hardware-software boundary. • Drive the architecture and delivery of large-scale, cross-team initiatives — from conception through production — managing dependencies, unblocking teams, and maintaining accountability for outcomes. • Anticipate system bottlenecks, failure modes, and security risks before they materialize; define safeguards and engineering standards that prevent class-of-problem recurrences. • Mentor and grow Staff and Senior engineers across the team: provide architectural guidance, conduct high-quality technical reviews, and act as a force multiplier for team output. • Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to influence organizational priorities, advocate for technical investments, and communicate technical strategy to executive stakeholders. • Represent the team in cross-functional forums; produce clear, concise architectural documentation and roadmap artifacts accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Participate in on-call rotation and lead high-severity incident response, including post-mortems and systemic remediation.

Overview M Position Overview We are seeking a GIS Developer with expertise in Esri’s ArcGIS platform to support engineering and construction of Outside Plant (OSP) telecom projects. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain GIS applications, automate geospatial workflows, and manage telecom network data to support fiber-optic and broadband infrastructure deployment. This role requires proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and programming skills in Python, JavaScript, and SQL. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities - Develop and manage GIS solutions to support OSP fiber network design, engineering, and construction planning. - Build custom geoprocessing tools and automate workflows using Python (ArcPy, Pandas, NumPy). - Develop interactive web-based mapping applications using ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Leaflet, or OpenLayers. - Integrate GIS data with CAD drawings (AutoCAD, MicroStation) to streamline telecom network planning. - Work with fiber network engineers and planners to optimize fiber routes, right-of-way planning, and permitting. - Perform spatial analysis and geoprocessing to assess project feasibility, cost estimation, and route optimization. - Manage and maintain GIS datasets for fiber optic networks, including pole locations, conduit pathways, splice points, and network assets. - Configure and administer ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and Portal for ArcGIS environments. - Develop and manage REST APIs and SQL-based geodatabases for spatial data integration with engineering systems. - Implement Esri Utility Network for telecom asset management and connectivity modeling. - Ensure GIS datasets align with industry standards (e.g., NTIA broadband mapping, FCC reporting). - Provide GIS-based analytics and dashboards (ArcGIS Dashboards, Power BI) to support project decision-making. Qualifications Qualifications & Skills - Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. - 3+ years of experience in GIS development, preferably in telecom, engineering, or construction projects. - Strong proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and related tools. - Python scripting skills for GIS automation (ArcPy, Jupyter Notebooks, GDAL). - Experience developing custom web GIS applications using JavaScript (ArcGIS API for JavaScript, React, or Angular). - Knowledge of SQL databases (PostGIS, SQL Server, Oracle) for managing spatial telecom data. - Familiarity with fiber network GIS modeling, including conduit, splice points, and pole infrastructure. - Experience working with CAD data (AutoCAD, MicroStation) and integrating it into GIS. - Understanding of OSP design principles, right-of-way permitting, and construction workflows. - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with engineering, construction, and network teams. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with Esri Utility Network for telecom asset modeling. - Familiarity with FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) for GIS data transformation. - Knowledge of AI/ML applications in GIS for predictive analytics and automation. - Experience working with cloud-based GIS environments (AWS, Azure, Esri Managed Cloud Services). - Understanding of 5G, broadband expansion, and FCC broadband mapping requirements. • Design, build, and maintain backend services for device connectivity, telemetry ingest, health monitoring, and command/control operations — using AI (Claude Code) as a first-class collaborator in your daily development workflow. • Use agentic workflows to dramatically increase delivery velocity without sacrificing quality: from generating service scaffolding, to writing and validating test coverage, to triage and root cause analysis during incidents. • Help define and codify AI-native engineering practices for the Devices Cloud team — establishing patterns the broader org can adopt. • Collaborate with firmware, mobile, and product teams to define APIs and workflows for device-driven features. • Build and own data pipelines for high-throughput telemetry streams using Kafka or similar streaming technologies. • Deliver scalable, resilient microservices on AWS (EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, etc.). • Instrument services for observability, reliability, and SLO compliance. • Participate in on-call rotation and live incident response. • Write clean, testable, performant code; contribute to CI/CD automation and improve team-wide engineering standards. • Mentor teammates and help evolve the team's AI-native engineering culture.
