Job Description Labcorp is seeking a Senior Cytogenetics Technologist to join our team Remotely. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm ET Job Responsibilities: - Perform analysis of chromosomes, which includes imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens. - Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis. - Summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature. - Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results. - Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. - Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care. - Perform and evaluate troubleshooting, document all corrective actions as needed. - Comply with company policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology - 4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience Preferred Qualifications - 1 year or more of experience in Oncology Cytogenetics - 1 year or more of experience in cytogenetic analysis - Certified by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG) - ASCP Certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG) Additional Job Standards - Experience with cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images - In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements - Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures - Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment - Ability to work independently and within a team environment - Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems - High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills - Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position - Able to pass a standardized color blindness test - Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs Work From Home Requirements: - The candidate must have a home office space that is a dedicated room, not shared with other people, and meets HIPAA compliance. - The candidate must agree to have their home address added to reports of cases you analyze or report.
