As a Staff Engineer, Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading the design, developing, testing, and implementation of Cepheid next generation software products. You’ll need to be a technical architect strong in Java, Angular, AWS cloud, web technologies, software design and architecture. In this hands-on role, you will collaborate closely with our Software, Hardware, Research, and Operations teams—as well as other cross-functional partners—to design and develop GenXpert software products and capabilities, while also creating operational tools to boost organizational productivity, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency in product development. You will spend approximately 60% of your time coding to bring your designs and architectures to life, ensuring that best practices and innovative solutions are implemented throughout the organization. You will partner with Cepheid IDC and Cepheid Sunnyvale leadership to build technical capability at Cepheid. This position is part of the R&D Department and will be located in Bangalore, IDC, India . In this role, you will have the opportunity to: - Provide software architecture and design for product development, including technical leadership for implementation, maintenance, and deployment using Agile lean software development processes - Lead hands-on software design, development, and delivery activities as an individual contributor, including automation of unit, component, and system-level testing - Interface with SQA, Marketing, Service, Support, and Program Management to support product development, validation, and release requirements - Conduct design reviews, document detailed software designs, and exchange technical information with quality engineers and product team members to ensure compliance with design specifications - Evaluate and adopt new technologies, tools, and development methodologies to support scalable software architecture and continuous improvement The essential requirements of the job include: - Engineering degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 8+ years of related software development experience - Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a technical architect designing and architecting cloud‑based applications - Minimum of 3+ years of hands‑on experience with AWS stack, including AWS cloud development and deployment - Proficiency with Java, Spring, Angular 2.0, and web application development using Spring MVC, Angular, and REST API - Full‑stack development experience working across all application layers, including back‑end databases through UI It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: - As an AWS certified solution architect - A background in leveraging AI to improve operational performance - Experience working with distributed teams in a global setting.
