Role Description Reporting to the Aftercare Manager, the Mental Health & Addiction Counsellor II primary responsibilities will be to provide individual, group and family therapy, education and ongoing assessment of progress to clients. Case coordination and communication across an inter-professional team is an integral component of the role. Additionally, the clinical counsellor is responsible for communicating with referral agencies, offering support, and guidance to clients and their families. - Competently manages clients with various mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, and substance use disorders. - Works therapeutically with diverse client population through group therapy, or other process groups, individual and family therapy and assessment, as required. - Delivers education sessions to clients, as well as to public audiences and external groups as needed. - Identifies treatment issues and goals with clients, coordinating across broader clinical teams when appropriate. - Collaborates in the development, implementation and follow-up of the client care plan and discharge plans (i.e. continuing care plan). - Completes detailed documentation and charting appropriately. The POC supports the contact centers of Enrollment Management to answer questions regarding a student’s file, whether it be program questions, keying documents, applications, decisions, or processing manual registrations. They are responsible for developing and maintaining effective communication as well as disseminating information to staff regarding student data and university policy. The main responsibilities are to provide communication support that in turn will increase productivity, enhance workforce/organization, lower or remove performance deficiencies, meet regulatory requirements, and support the University’s mission and goals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Must have extensive knowledge of all Verification areas and LUO program requirements in order to problem solve and handle complex student files.
