Senior Native Application Engineer

• Develop and maintain native iOS and Android applications, delivering high-quality streaming experiences at scale. • Contribute to TV platform applications (Apple TV, Fire TV/Android TV, Roku) alongside a team of cross-platform engineers. • Partner with BFF engineers to define API contracts and server-driven UI patterns that power the native experience layer. • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate personal and team productivity, and champion adoption of these workflows across the squad. • Drive architectural decisions for the native platform, establishing shared patterns, reusable components, and cross-platform consistency. • Partner with product, design, and engineering leadership to translate business objectives into well-scoped technical work. • Collaborate closely with team members and contractors, contributing to quality standards and knowledge sharing across the squad. • Identify and address technical debt that impacts platform stability, performance, or developer velocity. • Champion best practices around app security, crash reporting, observability, and release quality.

Job Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Swift and Kotlin with hands-on experience shipping production mobile applications.
  • Deep understanding of native mobile development patterns, architecture, and platform-specific best practices.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) and a track record of using them to accelerate delivery.
  • Familiarity with live streaming, video playback, or media-rich application development.
  • Experience working across multiple platforms or a demonstrated willingness to learn new ones.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and experience collaborating with backend teams on API design and integration.
  • Familiarity with app performance monitoring, crash reporting, and observability tooling.
  • Familiarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines and tooling (e.g., Fastlane, Bitrise, Xcode Cloud).
  • Ownership mindset with a bias for action and a drive to solve hard problems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team with a mix of FTEs and contractors.

Primary Responsibilities - Support application cybersecurity efforts for enterprise applications and emerging technology initiatives at Leidos. - Participate in security design reviews, technical assessments, and architecture discussions for enterprise applications, cloud-hosted services, and AI-enabled solutions. - Collaborate with developers, engineers, architects, and stakeholders to identify and address security considerations in application integrations, enhancements, and deployments. - Provide input on security considerations for data flows, cloud services, and AI-enabled application patterns. - Support customer-facing meetings, presentations, and technical discussions with internal stakeholders, project teams, and vendors as needed. - Help coordinate technical tasks, action items, and follow-ups to support project delivery timelines. - Work with software and platform teams to encourage secure development practices and practical security improvements. - Stay current on application security, AI security, and emerging technology risks and apply that knowledge to engineering and review activities. - Contribute to written findings, recommendations, and technical communications related to application and AI security activities. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree and 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, application security, software development, data integration, data analytics, data engineering, or related technical disciplines. Additional years of relevant experience, training, and/or professional certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree. - Must be a U.S. citizen. - Experience in application cybersecurity, secure software development practices, or related secure solution delivery activities. - Experience working with cloud environments such as AWS or Azure. - Working knowledge of one or more scripting or programming languages such as Python, SQL, or JavaScript. - Experience with one or more of the following in enterprise environments: application development, data integration, data analytics, or data engineering. - Foundational knowledge of AI-enabled application patterns and associated security considerations, including familiarity with concepts such as large language models, retrieval augmented generation, or agentic workflows. - Understanding of software development lifecycles and modern delivery practices such as Agile or DevSecOps. - Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences and contribute in collaborative team environments. - Ability to support meetings, presentations, and customer-facing technical discussions. - Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST AI Risk Management Framework, NIST SP 800-171, and NIST SP 800-53. - Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to continue learning in the AI security and emerging technology space.
