Copyright & Publishing Operations Assistant

• Database Management: Create and maintain accurate compositions within our publishing software; meticulously update and audit publishing metadata. • Rights Registrations: Manage the end-to-end registration process via CWR (Common Works Registration) and handle the importing and reconciliation of ACKs (Acknowledgments) from societies. • Conflict Resolution: Resolve ownership overlaps, double-claims, and disputes within the publishing ecosystem. • Quality Control: Review all publishing submissions for accuracy and compliance before they are submitted to societies. • Stakeholder Liaison: Handle queries from collection societies (PRS, ASCAP, BMI, etc.), DSPs, and our internal roster of songwriters and publishers. • Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot registration issues and data discrepancies to ensure minimal revenue leakage.

Job Requirements

  • Exceptional Analytical Skills: You have a natural ability to spot patterns, identify errors in large datasets, and approach complex problems with a logical, step-by-step methodology.
  • Spreadsheet Power User: You must be highly proficient in Google Sheets and/or Excel. We expect you to be comfortable with: Advanced Formulas, Data Cleaning, Data Comparison.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with publishing software and a solid understanding of CWR files and society portals is highly preferred.
  • Precision & Accuracy: You have a "measure twice, cut once" philosophy. In publishing, a single digit can be the difference between a royalty paid and a royalty lost.
  • Communication: The ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, professional updates for clients and partners.
  • Industry Knowledge: A foundational understanding of the global publishing landscape (Mechanical vs. Performance rights, the role of PROs/CMOs, etc.).
