Role Description The Performance Analyst, Junior monitors and analyzes the performance of enterprise IT systems and services to ensure they meet defined service levels and user experience expectations in a mission-critical federal environment. This role collects, correlates, and interprets metrics and logs from infrastructure, applications, and networks to identify performance bottlenecks and stability issues. The analyst builds dashboards, reports, and alerts that provide actionable insights to operations, engineering, and security teams for proactive optimization and continuous improvement of system reliability and efficiency. Key Responsibilities - Design and maintain performance monitoring dashboards and alerts using log analytics and observability platforms to track infrastructure and application health across the federal client environment. - Collect and correlate metrics, events, and logs from servers, networks, databases, and applications to diagnose latency, throughput, and error-rate issues, supporting timely remediation. - Perform trend analysis and capacity assessment to forecast performance risks and recommend scaling, optimization, or architectural changes that align with mission-critical requirements. - Conduct structured root cause analysis on recurring performance incidents, documenting findings and driving follow-up actions with operations and engineering teams. - Develop and refine performance KPIs and service level objectives (SLOs) that align technical measurements with business and mission-critical outcomes. - Use tools such as network performance monitors and log analytics platforms (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk) to investigate anomalies, validate hypotheses, and support incident response efforts. - Create recurring performance reports and executive summaries that translate complex technical data into clear, data-driven recommendations for leadership and stakeholders. - Collaborate with security and compliance stakeholders to ensure performance tuning and optimization maintain required controls in a highly regulated federal environment. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. - 0–3 years of experience in IT operations, systems engineering, or data analytics with foundational knowledge of performance monitoring and analysis principles. - Fundamental knowledge of or practical exposure to performance analysis tools and platforms such as Splunk, SolarWinds, or similar observability solutions. - Understanding of root cause analysis, problem-solving techniques, performance metrics, and improvement strategies in enterprise IT environments. - Active SECRET security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain required clearance. - U.S. citizenship required. - Availability for remote work with travel of less than 10%. Preferred Qualifications - Hands-on experience with platforms such as SolarWinds, Splunk, or similar observability tools for large-scale enterprise environments. - Exposure to performance analysis for distributed applications or large-scale networks supporting federal or public-sector customers. - Relevant certifications in IT service management, data analytics, or monitoring platforms (e.g., CPA, ITIL Foundation). - Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) or U.S. Army IT environments and compliance frameworks. Compensation Ranges Compensation ranges for ASM Research positions vary depending on multiple factors; including but not limited to, location, skill set, level of education, certifications, client requirements, contract-specific affordability, government clearance and investigation level, and years of experience. The compensation displayed for this role is a general guideline based on these factors and is unique to each role. This position is responsible for assisting the Financial Manager with all DERS sub-recipient fiscal monitors, ensuring fiscal compliance per grant-specific requirements, uniform guidance and federal regulations. The position is responsible for providing extensive technical assistance to sub-recipients, internal staff and other stakeholders. Travel will be required for State business. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on State business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code [A.A.C.] R2-10-207.11).
