Senior QA Automation Engineer, Backend, Logic Focus

SeedTrust Escrow

• Backend Automation: Expand and maintain existing Python-based test suites (Flask environment) to cover API and business logic edge cases • End-to-End Workflow Testing: Validate complex user journeys, from initial intake forms to final summary builds and case transitions • Data Validation: Test critical business logic scenarios, such as processing day calculations, partial records from agencies, and multi-user conflict scenarios • Frontend Regression: Build and maintain a regression suite for our Next.js frontend using Playwright or Cypress • Integration: Set up and optimize CI pipeline triggers to ensure automated tests run on every push, maintaining high deployment standards

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years in QA Automation with a specialized focus on Backend and API Testing
  • Strong proficiency in Python
  • Experience with Pytest and working within a Flask environment is a significant plus
  • Solid understanding of SQL and data modeling
  • You must be comfortable validating complex reports and database logs
  • Experience with Playwright or Cypress for frontend automation
  • Asynchronous Patterns: Ability to handle and test asynchronous patterns (OCR/AI processing pipelines)
  • English Fluency: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for a global team environment
  • Domain Interest: Experience or interest in Health-Tech and handling sensitive data.

Role Summary The Lead QA Automation Engineer (Cypress) is responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts to ensure software quality and reliability. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and is part of the Software Engineering team located in Bellevue, WA. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: - Design and develop automated test scripts using Cypress, JavaScript, and TypeScript to ensure software meets quality standards and end‑user requirements. - Execute automated test cases, analyze results, and take ownership of identifying quality risks and gaps. - Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting, driving issues to resolution in collaboration with engineering teams. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements and influence testability and quality early in the development lifecycle. - Provide recommendations and thought leadership on QA frameworks, tools, and best practices based on industry standards. - Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins with Allure reporting, ensuring reliable and actionable test feedback. - Manage source code using BitBucket/Git while promoting clean, maintainable test automation practices. - Participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to continuous improvement and helping raise overall quality maturity across the team. - Document and communicate test results, defects, metrics, and quality trends to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. - Mentor and guide team members on test automation approaches, quality standards, and effective testing strategies.
