The Senior Experience Designer creates end-to-end user flows and journey maps that define product scope and drive consistent, accessible digital experiences for healthcare colleagues and patients. This role partners closely with product and engineering to co-create requirements, adapts design systems, and leads usability studies. The designer advocates for user needs that align with business goals, and clear communication—delivering solutions that improve healthcare outcomes and digital experiences. This position will support consumer-facing experiences as part of a multi-year roadmap to improve digital healthcare. Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities: - Advocate for design direction, weaving in user needs and healthcare business goals. - Reframe and deconstruct complex design and business problems, facilitating shared understanding and direction. - Apply Human-centered Design practices and select the right tool for each problem. - Co-create requirements and drive alignment with product and engineering partners. - Lead the creation of strategic artifacts (e.g., journey maps, service blueprints) that inform vision and guide design execution. - Deliver clean, functional end-to-end user flows and UI for healthcare platforms. - Create fully functional prototypes that capture UX and business logic. - Design with accessibility and inclusive design principles, annotating for multiple levels of accessibility. - Contribute to and adapt design system standards (e.g., Figma). - Identify and apply consistent patterns across healthcare applications, designing with a mobile-first mindset. - Anticipate trends, document edge cases and constraints, and adapt strategy frameworks for specific contexts. - Lead evaluative research studies, from screening to test plans and analysis that yield actionable findings for UX iteration. - Create and structure content for various healthcare platforms, discerning when to use reusable or bespoke standards. - Adapt designs based on new information and feedback, working diplomatically with partners. Essential Qualifications - 5+ years work experience in user experience design - Advanced proficiency with design tools (e.g., Figma) and design systems. - Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design and research. - Deep understanding of accessibility, inclusive design, and mobile-first approaches. - Experience leading usability studies and synthesizing research. - Excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of digital product design work experience in healthcare or other highly-regulated space. - Experience in an Agile environment. - Proactive use of emerging tools and tech to improve workflow. - Familiarity with Figma Make and AI efficiencies for UX. Education Bachelor’s degree in Design, User Experience, Graphic Design, Information Design, Product Design, Human Factors or equivalent/relevant work experience Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 Time Type Full time Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $101,970.00 - $203,940.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. Role Description The Instructional Designer position is in the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Department of Administrative Services, Financial Management Office (FMO), Financial Policy, Travel, and Training Staff.
