At UNICEF, we are committed, passionate, and proud of what we do for as long as we are needed. Promoting the rights of every child is not just a job – it is a calling. Purpose of Assignment: Under the overall guidance of the Nutrition Specialist, the consultant will provide technical support to strengthen the governance, strategic positioning and regional coordination of the Alliance for Healthy Food for Children and Adolescents in Latin America and the Caribbean (ALSANNA). Background and Scope of Work: Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the regions most affected by all forms of malnutrition, including a growing burden of childhood overweight and obesity. While the region has made progress in reducing undernutrition, these gains have slowed and important inequalities persist across countries and populations. Recent regional estimates indicate that more than 4 million children under five years of age and nearly 50 million children and adolescents aged 5–19 years are living with overweight. These trends are closely linked to unhealthy food environments characterized by the widespread availability and promotion of unhealthy products, limited access to healthy diets and broader commercial determinants shaping dietary patterns. In line with the UNICEF Nutrition Strategy 2020–2030, UNICEF works with governments, academia, civil society and development partners to advance policies and programmes that contribute to healthier food environments for children and adolescents. The consultant will provide technical and coordination support to strengthen ALSANNA’s governance, strategic positioning and regional engagement.
