Job DescriptionThe Solutions System Specialist reports to the System Specialist Senior Manager and is responsible for all Solutions delivery activities. The System Specialist should have a strong technical background and experience leading technology delivery. The System Specialist should be a stellar communicator who is able to speak with ease to both technical resources and customers using appropriate, understandable terms. The System Specialist is responsible for implementing strategic initiatives and should have a passion for continuous improvement and operational efficiency. Technical Authority providing overall technical leadership for the project implementation. Works with customer to understand overall solutions needs and functionality of MSI and third party applications. Takes ownership of the technical solution from pre and post-sale. Works with the project manager to develop the project deployment schedule. Identify technical risks of the projects and works with PM on mitigation plans. Identify customer expectation mismatch to how products work and works with PM on mitigation plans. Technical counterpart with the PM in third party vendor, customer, and internal facing meetings. Owns project change control as it pertains to the overall technical solution. This is a remote position with approximately 50% travel. Qualified candidates can reside anywhere in the US. Candidates must reside in close proximity to a major airport due to travel expectations. Key Responsibilities: - Understanding the technical requirements, concepts of operation, and architecture of the overall solution. - Leading the project's technical and program discussions. - Builds and maintains positive, effective, and mutually beneficial-working alliances with customers - Tailoring and applying change management and systems engineering processes. Requires working with the customer and engineering teams when implementing solutions including third-party applications. - Collaborate with other resource managers on the team to plan project deliverables - Act as the design authority for the Solutions the Platform team is supporting. - Participate in the development of process and procedures - Assists Project Management in developing and managing costs and schedules by identifying technical risks to the deployment plan and suggesting mitigation options for those risks. - Drive process improvement and best practices - Participating as the technical counterpart to the Project Manager for third-party, customer, and internal meetings. - Initiates problem solving action and follows through to resolution - Performs root-case analysis for problems to formulate and recommend improved alternative operations - Identifies and suggests possible system and/or process improvements when applicable - Run diagnostics using approved MSI tools - Provide system performance reporting using approved MSI tools when requested - Understand system dependencies and related connections - Maintain subject matter expert skills Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related field preferred - At least 5+ years experience in Public Safety Application deployment and integration and/or operations and administration - Experience in one of the following: Public Safety, Business Analysis, Field Service, CAD- Computer Aided Dispatch, Record Management Systems, and Jail Applications - Must be a self-motivated team player able to work effectively with general guidance toward objectives - Experience in the design and implementation of complex systems, including integration with 3rd party products and services - Knowledge of Public Safety operating environments - Familiarity with Next Generation Public Safety trends and standards - Working knowledge and understanding of: - Server Virtualization, specifically with VMWare and OpenShift - Database Servers, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server - Networking (TCP/IP Protocols) - Experience leading highly complex projects - Excellent presentation skills are required - Ability to apply critical thinking skills to make decisions, troubleshoot issues, identify mitigation strategies and exercise good judgment in selection of methods and techniques for obtaining solutions - Ability to work collaboratively with all team members - Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required - Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer - This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
