We’re searching for a Payroll Manager to lead our payroll team and operations in the U.S. and across the Americas. This role is more than processing numbers — it’s about leadership, compliance, technology optimization, and making payroll a trusted, seamless experience for every employee. You’ll be hands-on in troubleshooting issues, leading upgrades, integrating new divisions, and ensuring our payroll systems evolve with our business. What You’ll Do As Payroll Manager, you’ll: - Lead & Mentor – Manage a team of up to five Payroll Specialists, providing coaching, training, and support to help them excel. - Own the Payroll Cycle – Oversee accurate, timely payroll processing for multiple states and entities, including expatriate and inpatriate payroll. - Be Our Workday Expert – Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot Workday Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking modules to ensure efficient and compliant operations. - Drive Compliance – Manage payroll tax administration, state and local registrations, and ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. - Innovate & Improve – Conduct audits, analyze processes, and recommend system enhancements that improve accuracy, efficiency, and employee experience. - Collaborate Cross-Functionally – Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and leadership teams across the business to ensure payroll aligns with organizational goals. - Support Growth – Lead payroll integration projects as new business divisions join our centralized Workday platform, including process conversion and data migration. - Be a Trusted Advisor – Act as the go-to subject matter expert for payroll processes, policies, and system configurations. What We’re Looking For You are more than a payroll professional — you’re a problem solver, a leader, and someone who thrives in complexity. Here’s what will set you up for success: - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred - 5–7 years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 3+ years in management or supervisory roles - Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll configuration (required) - Strong understanding of multi-state payroll, payroll taxes, and compliance requirements - Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data manipulation) - Payroll certifications (CPP or FPC) are a plus - Strong interpersonal and communication skills — able to work with stakeholders at every level - Experience in leading payroll process improvements, audits, and system upgrades Why Join Mitsubishi Chemical America?
