• Define and drive the technical vision and strategy for FS&L, ensuring systems achieve high throughput, low latency, and scale. • Architect and build mission-critical financial systems (e.g., card processing, loan repayments) with a focus on funds flow, reconciliation, and invariants. • Drive developer productivity by advocating for new tooling (Go, Temporal, K8, MongoDB) and AI adoption. • Mentor and coach team members to foster growth and technical excellence. • Partner with Product/Engineering leaders to align on long-term product and engineering strategy. • Lead the creation of reusable platforms for adoption across Coinbase.

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services in a modern TypeScript/Node.js ecosystem. • Build and evolve event-driven pipelines, task orchestration, and asynchronous workflows. • Own relational data modeling and migrations using PostgreSQL and ORM-based schema management. • Develop robust APIs (REST and WebSocket) with clear versioning and backward-compatibility guarantees. • Implement and enforce security, authentication, and authorization patterns appropriate for regulated environments. • Partner closely with frontend, DevOps, and product stakeholders to translate requirements into durable backend solutions. • Establish and uphold engineering standards around testing (unit, integration, BDD), code quality, and documentation. • Diagnose and remediate production issues, including performance bottlenecks, data integrity issues, and deployment failures.

• Assess business and application requirements. • Provide business unit consultation, and solution modeling, along with development of logical, physical and conceptual architectures. • Lead and/or participate in platform design activities and projects to help drive change in support of global, regional, and domestic initiatives. • Follow solution architecture / design throughout the lifecycle to ensure the delivered solution adheres to the design or where the design may need to be modified. • Develop specifications for Solution engineering to build the solutions and participate in design-related problem resolution. • Collaborate with other architecture disciplines to ensure all high level designs are comprehensive, compliant, and viable. • Participate in emerging technology research. • Ensure all solutions meet appropriate CMMC or local government requirements.
