Job Description

Disaster Recovery Advisor

Bright Harbor

Advisor | Bright Harbor Advisor Network Remote | Part Time or Full Time (Flexible as Needed) When disaster strikes, people need more than information. They need someone they can trust. Bright Harbor Advisors are compassionate guides who help individuals and families navigate the overwhelming path to recovery after federally declared disasters. As an Advisor, you will meet people during one of the most difficult times in their lives and support them as they find clarity, make critical decisions, and begin to rebuild. About the Role Bright Harbor Advisors are part of a nationwide network that is activated during large-scale natural disasters. You will work remotely to support survivors across the country, providing personalized guidance tailored to each person’s unique situation. From the first assessment through long-term recovery, you will help clients understand their options, move forward with confidence, and connect with services that can make a real difference. This is not an IT, technical support, or cybersecurity role. It is focused on people, recovery, and helping communities rebuild after natural disasters (you would be surprised how many folks with IT backgrounds apply, so we want to be clear up front). What You Will Do - Support 20 to 80 clients per month during disaster response activations, offering calm and steady guidance - Lead survivors through onboarding, recovery planning, and key decisions that shape their next steps - Share clear information, trusted resources, and referrals based on each client’s situation - Document each case accurately in the Bright Harbor platform, tracking progress from start to finish - Collaborate with teammates and outside experts when clients need specialized support What We Are Looking For - Available to respond quickly when a natural disaster occurs, with flexible part-time or full-time availability during activation periods - Experience in disaster recovery, housing support, case management, or community rebuilding — or lived experience as a survivor who wants to help others - Self-motivated, organized, and dependable, with strong follow-through - Comfortable using technology and eager to learn new tools and systems - Excellent communicator with empathy, emotional intelligence, and patience - Committed to acting with integrity and driven by a genuine desire to help others Training and Support You will complete up to 30 hours of training designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to guide survivors through the recovery process. You will also receive ongoing support from Bright Harbor staff and other Advisors during deployments. Lived Experience If you have lived through a disaster and want to help others recover, we want to hear from you. What matters most is your ability to listen, communicate clearly, stay organized, and lead with empathy.
