MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country. We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel – Labor & Employment to join our Legal team. This role will serve as the Company’s primary legal advisor on employment-related matters, with a strong emphasis on California employment law. The Assistant General Counsel will partner closely with Human Resources, executive leadership, and operational teams to provide strategic, practical, and risk-balanced legal counsel in a fast-paced, multi-state manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings significant experience in California labor and employment law, strong litigation management experience, and the ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable business guidance across multiple jurisdictions. Anticipated Pay Range: $155,000 - $200,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications What You'll Do Labor & Employment Law Leadership - Serve as lead counsel for all labor and employment-related legal matters across the organization. - Provide strategic advice and counsel on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with a significant focus on California law. - Advise on employee relations matters, including discipline, terminations, reductions in force, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, and workplace investigations. - Partner with HR leadership to proactively mitigate risk and develop legally sound policies and procedures. Litigation & Dispute Management - Oversee and manage employment-related litigation, administrative charges, and agency investigations (e.g., EEOC, DFEH/CRD, Labor Commissioner claims). - Direct outside counsel, manage budgets, and develop litigation strategy aligned with company objectives. - Assess exposure and provide practical risk analysis to senior leadership. Policy Development & Compliance - Draft, review, and update employment policies, handbooks, agreements, and training materials. - Provide guidance on multi-state compliance with particular emphasis on California wage and hour laws, PAGA matters, and evolving regulatory developments. - Support internal audits and compliance initiatives. Strategic Business Partnership - Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and business partners. - Deliver training to HR and operational leaders on labor and employment law developments and risk mitigation. - Provide practical, business-oriented legal solutions that align with MITER Brands’ culture and operational goals.
