Civil Engineer Team Leaders (CETL) are supervisors of multiple Civil Engineers and Civil Engineering Technicians overseeing the design of structures, foundations, overhead wires, aluminum bus, equipment design and site grading plans for electrical substations and transmission lines. The CETL is tasked with ensuring that their team’s designs, and applications, are completed to code and standards set forth by the appropriate authoritative bodies. In addition, CETLs are responsible for the training, recruiting, hiring, scheduling, assigning and discipline of CEs and CETs under their supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Oversee all engineering responsibilities and activities. • Delegates engineering responsibilities and activities within their team. • Leads the design and checking processes. • Manages the day-to-day activities of schedule and design. • Directly trains and directs CEs and CETs assigned to their team. • Maintains design standards and training guidelines. • Coordinates and problem solves issues between design teams and departments. • Answers technical questions posed by construction managers, field staff, customers and their representatives. • Recognizes and recommends methods to improve every customer’s experience. • Travels periodically to both customer offices for project meetings and to job sites for construction visits. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • The Civil Engineer Team Leader will have multiple employees reporting to this position. • Works with the VP of Civil Engineering to coordinate the scheduling of employee PTO. • Works with the VP of Civil Engineering to recruit, hire and train new engineers. • Provides input on organizational structure, employee performance, continuing education, employee development and disciplinary actions. • As assigned by the Civil Engineer Manager. EXPECTATIONS: • Performs quality work within deadlines without direct supervision. • Interacts professionally with other employees and customers. • Works effectively as a leader on all assigned projects. • Demonstrates integrity and ethics in all client relationships and communications. • Communicates regularly with supervisor and teams regarding designs, concerns, studies or tests. • Desires to participate in continued education and training. • Must have clean driving record as use of company vehicles is a requirement of position. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering is required. • PE is required. • Strong background in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; strong verbal and written communication skills are required. WORKING CONDITIONS: • Will work in an office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, and other environmental hazards. May involve prolonged periods of sitting and frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. • Able to lift 50 pounds • Use of company vehicle, on occasion. A successful Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) is required. • Overnight travel is required to an active construction site for a period of one or two weeks at a time. Ability to perform duties safely and to adhere to each job site’s safety requirements; while working on an active job site, outdoors, is a requirement. • This position may occasionally require work to be completed in the field. When asked to do so, the conditions and requirements change to address special needs while working on an active job site. Please refer to the addendum “Working in the Field” for information about requirements and conditions to be met while working in the field. $100,000 - $175,000 a year $100,000- $175,000 per year (potential for beyond scale) Salary range is estimated.
