We're looking for an experienced Payroll Accountant to join us on a temporary basis to support our payroll accounting function during a critical period. You'll be coming in ready to contribute from day one — working on key reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting deliverables while also supporting our Canadian payroll operations. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned payroll professional looking for meaningful contract work with a high-impact team. While this is a remote position, we are a global company and are looking for applicants located in eastern or central time zones to align with our team's working hours. What you’ll do: - Prepare payroll-related journal entries and record them in NetSuite - Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline, researching and resolving variances within 30 days - Accurately reconcile and record payroll-related cash transactions - Prepare monthly payroll accrual and actual payroll expense load files for the GL accounting team - Process biweekly Canadian payroll for two legal entities, ensuring timely delivery and full compliance with all statutory requirements - Reconcile monthly benefits billing statements to internal payroll records, identifying and resolving discrepancies - Support year-end reconciliations, compliance reviews, and other internal audit initiatives as needed Who you are: - You have 3+ years of relevant experience in payroll accounting, with exposure to both payroll operations and general ledger accounting - You're comfortable hitting the ground running in a new environment with minimal ramp-up time - You have hands-on experience with NetSuite and/or Blackline, or similar ERP and reconciliation platforms - You have a solid understanding of payroll compliance, including US federal and state requirements; Canadian payroll experience is a strong plus - You are meticulous about accuracy and take ownership of getting the details right - You are a clear communicator who can respond to cross-functional requests quickly and professionally - A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; CPA or CPP designation is a plus Compensation & Benefits - The hourly band for this position ranges from $35 - $40 per hour, commensurate with experience and performance.
