Role Overview: Roblox is seeking a Manager, Communications to manage both consumer and corporate communications for the platform in Japan. As a member of the Global Communications and Corporate Affairs team, you will build and lead strategic communications programs in Japan. You will execute localized communications campaigns through earned media channels aimed at influencing a wide variety of audiences - from Gen Z consumers, to the local creator/developer community, to local brands, to parents - showcasing the breadth of user-generated virtual experiences on Roblox, the role of developers & creators in the growing virtual economy on the platform, and the company's commitment to safety and civility as well as directly engage with press to build relationships and deal with policy and issues communications in the market. You have a strong understanding of the media and cultural landscape across a number of Japan markets, a track record of developing strategic initiatives and creative ideas that delivered impactful media coverage results, and experience as a public-facing company spokesperson. You are passionate about our mission, the community Roblox serves, and you should have an excellent understanding of consumer technology, social media, and entertainment industries. Knowledge and passion for immersive 3D technology and user-generated content is preferred. This position is a part of the APAC Communications team and reports to the Head of APAC Communications, Singapore and the role is based in Tokyo. We have a local team in Tokyo and you will be required to come into office three times a week on nominated days and will adhere to a hybrid working model. The role requires fluent language skills in Japanese and English. You Will: - Build, lead and execute compelling communications campaigns in Japan in support of business objectives, and in partnership with communications agencies on the ground in those markets - Utilize your deep understanding of the media landscape and media relationships to build strategic recommendations and scalable communications programs that help drive and support business objectives. - Optimally handle high-profile and fast-paced business issues while remaining calm and demonstrating good judgment. - Lead local market media outreach in support of global communications campaigns and announcements, including content launches, product launches, and executive profiling - Develop company positions on key regional issues as well as the strategy for reactive and proactive communications plans. - Work in tandem with a range of business functions to support their communications objectives in the market - including, but not exclusive to, the company's Marcomms, Market Expansion, Public Policy, Civility, Brand Partnerships and Developer Relations functions - Manage Japan press office, including crisis and issues management as needed - Act as a public-facing spokesperson for Roblox in media interviews if needed and ensure visibility for other spokesperson in the market - Bring fresh ideas and a creative approach to deliver measurable, attributable results - Brief spokespeople and staff C-suite interviews. - Work closely on above with APAC Communications and International communications leads apart from other colleagues in the team You Have: - 10+ years of experience in communications, ideally including significant experience in a consumer technology company (preferably at a global public company in the entertainment, media or gaming space) - Fluent language skills in Japanese and English - Proven experience in a fast-paced environment - Proven-track record developing and implementing strategic communications plans, aligning internal, external, and partner communications against business priorities - Proven success at developing and delivering impactful proactive communications campaigns across multiple markets - Experience supporting a variety of in-house business functions and serving their communications needs - Experience managing multiple communication agencies in an in-house communications role - Confirmed performance handling communications in crisis and critical situations, including crafting clear directives and follow-through - Experience and confidence acting as a public-facing spokesperson in media interviews, including broadcast interviews (experience as a speaker at major events and conferences a plus) - Excellent written and verbal communications skills Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted). The Role The Officer, Philanthropy Communications will develop compelling content to support private fundraising, with an emphasis on securing and/or enhancing corporate partnerships. The role will be responsible for overseeing and creating donor communications (i.e. concept notes, proposals, reports, fact sheets, newsletters, gift acknowledgment emails/letters, visual/digital assets) for use by fundraisers to steward corporate donor relationships at the six-figure level and above. The Officer will also be responsible for leading on new business opportunities with fundraisers and program staff and providing generic and specialized donor communications materials during fundraising efforts for emergencies.
