ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, PROSPECT RESEARCH

Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Prospect Research supports the prospect research and prospect identification functions within the Division of Advancement. The position partners with fundraising staff to provide research, analysis, and prospect identification services that inform donor strategy throughout the fundraising cycle. The Assistant Director of Prospect Research conducts proactive and reactive prospect research projects, prepares prospect profiles and briefings, and performs wealth and propensity analysis to support fundraising and engagement strategies. The role collaborates with Advancement leadership, development officers, and volunteers on prospect development initiatives and contributes to data integrity and support campaign readiness activities. Reporting to the Director, Prospect Development, the assistant director also participates in aspects of the prospect management process as needed. Supervision: This position reports to the Director, Prospect Development This position does not have supervisory responsibility. Job Responsibilities: Prospect Research - Collects, synthesizes, analyzes, and interprets biographical, financial, and philanthropic data to produce briefings and reports that inform fundraising strategy and decision-making. - Prepare research profiles on identified prospects to support donor engagement and solicitation strategies. - Calculate and assess wealth indicators and develop capacity ratings that estimate the ability and propensity of individuals, corporations and foundations to make philanthropic contributions or serve in volunteer capacities for the college. - Utilizes advanced research tools and analytical methodologies to identify, qualify, and prioritize prospective donors and volunteers in support of the College’s strategic fundraising activities, in particular targeted constituencies such as planned giving and parent prospects. Prospect Management - Support development officers and the prospect management system tracks prospects through the donor lifecycle: Discovery, Qualification, Cultivation, Solicitation and Stewardship. - Assist in maintaining accurate prospect records and activity tracking within the constituent relationship management (CRM) system. - Serve as a resource for employees across the College on prospect management tools and related processes. Qualifications: Required - Bachelor’s degree required with 2-4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Minimum 2-3 years of experience in prospect development or related field. - Solid understanding of the development cycle and best practices for prospect development. - Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and both written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment. - In-depth knowledge and facility with various databases (Blackbaud RENXT a plus) and Microsoft applications. - Capable of working efficiently and quickly to respond to unanticipated requests when required. - Familiarity with free and paid prospect research and wealth screening tools. Experience with iWave and Live Alumni a plus. - Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain constituent records confidentiality. Work Environment: Most of the work is performed in an accessible, office environment using standard office equipment, including computers and related technology required to perform job responsibilities. Fully remote candidates will be considered. This position is 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
