• Take end-to-end ownership of the data platform that ingests, processes, and serves reliable data across the company. • Design and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure and pipelines. • Drive the technical direction of our data platform and contribute to architectural decisions. • Collaborate with software engineering, analytics, product, and compliance teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions. • Mentor engineers, review designs, and contribute to the maturity and excellence of the Data Engineering function.

Job Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms (AWS preferred), especially services relevant to data ingestion, processing, orchestration, and storage.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with a track record of building reliable, production-grade data pipelines and services.
  • Deep experience with event streaming and event-driven architectures using technologies such as EventBridge, Firehose, Kinesis, or Kafka.
  • Practical experience building, deploying, and operating containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
  • Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and modern CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitLab CI).
  • Ability to independently lead technical initiatives, make architectural decisions, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Effective communication skills for working with engineering, analytics, product, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring others, improving engineering practices, and contributing to a high-quality data platform and team culture.

Data Scouts will have a chance to make an immediate impression on the company. Each Data Scout will be collecting data that is directly used by SIS clients for advance scouting and evaluation purposes. Not only will the Data Scouts become more familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of hundreds of college and professional players, but they will also learn the ins and outs of the ever growing football data industry. This position requires very high attention to detail and focus for at least eight hours straight. There will be times when the position will require you to work more than eight hours in a row to get assignments completed on time.
