Job Description
Director - Business Consulting
Cielo Costa
First, who are we? We're Cielo Costa – 26 people working fully-remotely across the UK, Pakistan, India, Tunisia, and the Philippines. We call ourselves Coasties. We build custom development solutions and advise on Microsoft platforms for clients in healthcare, built environments, and regulated sectors where quality is paramount. We're marathon runners, parents, triathletes, video gamers, musicians, photographers and travel enthusiasts! We care about our work and each other. Excellence in delivery is non-negotiable, but so is being human. We're creating a new role; Director, Business Consulting - a role on our leadership team. This is a role for someone instinctively uncomfortable taking a brief at face value. You thrive in the space before the solution - asking whether we're solving the right problem at all. You'll lead our shift from solution delivery to service design, transforming how Cielo Costa engages with clients. The Role - Lead the shift from solution delivery to service design - positioning our thinking upstream of the brief, before the client has fully defined the problem. - Own client relationships end-to-end: pulse of project health, real feedback loops, be present, curious, indispensable. - Be in all sales conversations - not just directing them. Estimate, propose, prep the team, and ensure every engagement is set up to solve the right problem, not just finish on time. - Run co-design workshops and discovery sessions that help clients articulate what they actually need - and push back diplomatically when the brief needs reframing. - Coach and enable a high-performing team, building the commercial and strategic instincts that mean they don't need you in the room to have the right conversation. Skills & Capabilities - Clear thinker with a warm heart - first and foremost - Service design thinking: outcomes over outputs, problems over briefs - Problem framing and diagnostic rigour - Business development and commercial fluency - Strategic relationship management - Enabling others You're the right person if.. - You probe, reframe and push back before committing to a direction. You do this diplomatically and consistently. - You've led clients through ambiguity in strategic or technology consulting, not just delivered against spec. - Your reports grow fast. You coach, align and enable and you're honest about your own gaps. - You read situations and people well. You look around corners. - You make calls, own them, and move forward. - You bring high EQ and genuine warmth. You're a culture builder. You're probably already thinking about the icebreaker, the team challenge, the random Thursday ritual that becomes the thing everyone looks forward to. - You have some tips and tricks for building connection in a remote-first environment. What success looks like In a year, we'd love to be saying… - Clients are coming to us before they've defined the problem - because they trust us to help them think, not just build. - We have a repeatable approach to discovery and service design that sets us apart from delivery-only competitors. - The team thinks commercially and strategically without you in the room. - Clients are re-engaging and expanding - because they feel like partners, not accounts. Practicalities - We are a fully-remote company, no offices (yet). - This person would ideally be based in Midlands or London. Must be able to travel easily to clients and meet up in person with the team at least bi-weekly. - Leadership level salary, profit share, healthcare, flexible-working, pension.
