Job Description

Principal Automation & Efficiency (m/f/d)

1KOMMA5˚

1KOMMA5° At 1KOMMA5°, we pursue a clear vision: Living on wind and sunlight forever for free. To make this a reality, we are building the energy system of the future with Heartbeat AI. Want to be part of it?We bring together regional craftsmanship and scalable software: We don't think of solar, batteries, heat pumps, and e-mobility as isolated components, but control them as an intelligent, integrated overall system in our virtual power plant. Directly connected to the electricity market – in real time, fully automated. This way, energy is used when it is available from renewables and particularly cost-effective. By 2030, our goal is to transition 1.5 million households to renewable energies. Over 3,000 people are working towards this every day, at more than 80 locations worldwide, from Finland to Australia. Want to take responsibility and build solutions that truly matter? Apply now and help us shape the energy world of tomorrow. Learn more about our Product & Tech team! Your mission You ensure that our internal processes scale as fast as our customer base. As a strategic satellite, you dive deep into departments like Operations, Finance, and HR to identify manual bottlenecks and process limitations. You transform these challenges into robust, scalable systems using modern no/low-code automation and intelligent process design. Through your deep integration into the teams, you ensure that decisions are driven by clear data and that every workflow you build delivers measurable efficiency gains. Your Position - Design Scalable Processes: You deconstruct complex manual workflows and rebuild them into resilient, automated systems. You ensure our operational foundation evolves from its current state to handle massive customer scale without friction. - Enable Seamless Automation: You design and implement automated workflows that connect our software landscape. Using modern automation platforms (e.g., Make, n8n, Zapier), you eliminate manual bottlenecks and solve operational problems with high speed and precision. - Strategic Satellite & Diplomat: You act as a strategic partner who integrates deeply into various departments to understand their specific challenges. You serve as the translator between operational realities and technical possibilities, ensuring that solutions are not just functional but genuinely adopted by the teams. - Enable Data-Driven Decisions: You build transparency through clear dashboards and automated reporting. By making data usable and accessible, you enable our teams to measure what matters and visualize efficiency gains. Your profile - Expertise - Applied Automation: Deep proficiency in Low-Code/No-Code platforms (e.g., Make, n8n, Zapier) and a solid understanding of REST APIs. You know how to connect systems robustly without needing to build custom software for every problem. - Process Architecture: You excel at dissecting complex operational value chains (e.g., in Sales, Logistics, or Finance) and rebuilding them for scale. You understand the difference between a quick fix and a scalable process. - Data & Visibility: Strong ability to visualize complex data. You are comfortable using BI tools or SQL to build dashboards that provide clear insights into process performance and efficiency. - Experience & Background - Professional Experience: 5+ years at the intersection of Operations, Product, and Tech (e.g., as Operations Manager, Technical Program Manager, or in a Digital Transformation role). - Scaling Track Record: Proven success in high-growth environments. You have successfully scaled operational processes from a manual "startup phase" to a structured, automated "scale-up phase." - System Fluency: You treat software tools as interchangeable building blocks. Whether it's a CRM, a ticketing system, or a niche HR tool, you understand the universal logic of triggers, actions, and data objects. You don't just "know" a tool; you master its logic immediately to make it do what you need. - Mindset & Method - Pragmatism over Perfection: You prioritize functional, high-value solutions over over-engineered theoretical concepts. You build to solve problems, not to use the latest hype technology. - High Agency: You thrive in a "satellite" position. You proactively identify bottlenecks and drive solutions independently, managing stakeholders across various departments without needing constant guidance. - Communication - Universal Connector: You move seamlessly between worlds. You are as comfortable discussing site constraints with installers as you are discussing API limits with engineers or workflows with HR. You don't just "translate"; you adapt your style to the audience and get them genuinely excited about the changes you are building. - Languages: Excellent English and business fluent German skills are mandatory (C1 level). Benefits - You are part of an international, dynamic, and highly motivated team of people who have proven to make things happen - With your work, you accelerate the "energy transition" and hence have a direct impact on our climate - Work with and learn from other super-smart colleagues - You will enjoy direct contact with core decision-makers - Individualised opportunities for professional development - Reporting directly to the CTO - You will enjoy the best chances of entering full-time in one of Europe’s most thriving scaleups - You work remotely (Germany-wide), with offices in Hamburg, Berlin or Munich - Create a healthy balance alongside your work and enjoy all the benefits of the EGYM Wellpass - Benefits and discounts are yours with Futurebens - Whether city bike or e-bike - be flexible with our job bike leasing and do something good for the environment at the same time
