Job Description

Senior Accountant

Campus

Title: Senior Accountant Location: NYC, NY Department: Finance Job Description: About Campus Campus is on a mission to accelerate the talent of tomorrow and reimagine what college can (and should) be. The problem is clear: college costs have skyrocketed, but outcomes haven’t. Traditional college hasn’t kept up with the aspirations of today’s students—and they can’t afford to wait. At Campus, we’ve built a two-year, accredited college where students learn from top professors at universities like Princeton, Stanford, and Howard, in live, online classes. Our students graduate with in-demand business and AI skills—ready to launch their careers or transfer to top four-year universities. Our unique approach is grounded in a pioneering technology platform and a heavily-researched student success model that offers students dedicated advisors and on-demand tutoring and coaching. We were also named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies of 2024. We’re backed by an exceptional investor team that believes deeply in our vision for the future of education, including General Catalyst, Founders Fund, Bloomberg Beta, 8VC, Rethink Education, Sam Altman, Jason Citron, Shaquille O’Neal, and others. About the team On the Finance team, our goal is to build a strong financial foundation that enables Campus to scale its impact for students. We own day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and controls, and we partner closely with leaders across the organization to turn data into clear, actionable insights. The team is and will be composed of finance & accounting professionals across accounting, FP&A, and financial operations. About the role We are seeking a Senior Accountant to help build and maintain the financial backbone that powers Campus’s growth. You’ll play a hands-on role in our day-to-day accounting operations — from managing core transactions and reconciliations to supporting a timely, accurate month-end close. You’ll also be closely involved in revenue accounting, audit support, tax-related work, and other compliance reporting in partnership with our external advisors and cross-functional teams. You’ll work closely with our Finance leadership to ensure our numbers are reliable, our processes are scalable, and our decisions are grounded in high-quality financial data. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… - Own key aspects of the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis - Support daily accounting operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger - Help maintain accurate records for tuition, fees, and other revenue streams, ensuring proper recognition in accordance with GAAP - Review and process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and corporate card expenses with a strong eye for detail and policy compliance - Assist with preparing internal financial statements and management reports used for decision-making across Campus - Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure transactions are coded correctly and processes are efficient - Help build, improve, and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls as we scale - Support annual audits, tax-related work, and other compliance reporting by preparing schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and collaborating both with cross-functional partners at Campus and with our external auditors and tax advisors - Grow with Campus as we scale, with opportunities to take on increased ownership and expand into larger roles over time We’re excited about you because… - You have a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles - You bring 2–4 years of accounting experience in public accounting and/or corporate accounting - A CPA license or progress toward CPA is preferred - You’re fluent in Excel and comfortable working with modern finance tools and accounting systems - You’re detail-oriented, organized, and take pride in clean, accurate reconciliations and well-documented work - You’re a proactive problem solver who spots inconsistencies, investigates root causes, and proposes solutions - You communicate clearly and can translate financial concepts to non-finance teammates - You enjoy working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and are excited to help build processes, not just follow them What you’ll get: - A compensation package that includes a base salary ($110,000 - $130,000) + equity grant - Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary will be localized. - Medical, dental, and vision insurance - 401(k) match - Fertility benefits via Carrot - Flexible Time Away + paid holidays - In-office lunches for our NY Office (did we mention, we’re dog friendly? - Hybrid work schedule (Mon & Fri remote; Tues-Thurs in-office) - Social events - happy hours, birthday celebrations, holiday parties, & more! - Opportunity to make an impact – you’ll be an integral player in bringing our vision to life Where we’re located: Tribeca, NY Unfortunately, we are unable to offer new H-1B visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring new H-1B sponsorship. However, we can support H-1B transfers and are able to sponsor TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican citizens.
