Senior Lighting Artist
Room 8 Group
Role Description The Heroic by Room 8 Group team is looking for a Lighting Artist Senior to create, modify and improve the quality of art assets that our studio develops. Becoming a part of the Heroic team you will: - Create fantastic and eye-catchy scenes for game trailers and cinematics following the existing art style and within provided estimations. - Collaborate closely with production teams of our partners to create from scratch and support in the creation of videos in various settings and styles. - Coordinate with Producer, Project Manager, Project Lead to achieve the best quality and participate in production pipelines optimization. - Timely & fully implement the feedback from lead artists (internal and external). Qualifications - Portfolio that demonstrates a range of styles, creativity and structured design approach. - Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine (shading and lighting techniques, surfacing, cinematic tools, sequencer, basic animation, environment creation, real-time VFX). - Strong understanding of photo-realistic approach, as well as stylized approach. - Camera animation experience. - Understanding of composition, color theory, perspective, lighting, and tech graphic design principles. Requirements - Knowledge of Adobe AE, Premiere Pro. - Knowledge of other 3D software (Cinema 4D, Maya, Houdini). - Experience in the game industry or postproduction. - If you are a gamer, who plays and knows the aesthetics of cool games. • Create high-quality 3D models, textures, and materials for mobile puzzle games, ensuring a polished and appealing visual style. • Expert in industry standard tools such as 3ds Max and ZBrush, with strong experience in stylized asset creation for mobile. • Define and establish 3D art standards, pipelines, and production systems, ensuring visual consistency and scalability across all game assets. • Collaborate closely with the Principal 3D Artist and multidisciplinary teams to elevate the overall visual quality of the project. • Stay actively involved in hands-on asset creation, providing senior-level guidance and mentorship when necessary. • Work cross-functionally with design, tech, and production teams to support strategic art and technical decisions. • Strong expertise in implementing 3D assets in Unity, including materials, lighting, prefabs, and scene setup. • Apply advanced optimization techniques for mobile performance, balancing visual quality with technical constraints. • Create and maintain documentation for pipelines, workflows, and best practices to support efficient team production.
• Collaborate with a team of CG and Generative AI experts to develop unique content for animated shorts and specials, leveraging a GenAI-native pipeline that combines generative AI tools with traditional animation techniques. • Work closely with creative leadership to shape storytelling and visual aesthetics that meet feature-quality standards and align with the creative vision of the Director and project leads. • Contribute to the creation of short stories in a fast-paced, sprint-based production environment. • Actively participate in creative discussions and brainstorming sessions. • Use GenAI tools such as ComfyUI to generate concept frames, style frames, character explorations, and environment designs based on scripts, outlines, or verbal direction. • Experiment with and evaluate the latest generative tooling and be open to testing new technology throughout the development process. • Create shot-ready assets (e.g., characters, props, environments) using a combination of generative tools and traditional DCCs (Photoshop, Maya, Houdini, Harmony, Blender, etc.). • Build and fine-tune generative image and video models. • Test and compare multiple generative tools and workflows (e.g., different models, LoRAs, motion tools), document results, and recommend best practices to the team. • Help develop and document new GenAI/traditional hybrid workflows, collaborating with production and technology teams to improve efficiency and creative output.
