Role Description Our client is seeking an Open Source Evangelist to advocate for its cloud networking stack and AI initiatives, including projects such as Istio, kgateway, kagent, agentgateway, and agentregistry. This individual will serve as a visible technical leader within the open-source ecosystem — engaging with communities, speaking at conferences, publishing technical content, and collaborating closely with product and engineering teams. The role bridges community engagement, technical thought leadership, and product feedback, helping shape the future of networking and AI-native infrastructure. What This Role Will Do - Represent the company’s open-source projects and platform externally through technical blogs, white papers, webinars, workshops, podcasts, newsletters, and conference talks focused on cloud networking and agentic AI-native infrastructure. - Engage deeply with open-source communities, industry partners, and standards bodies to help drive project adoption and ecosystem alignment. - Amplify project visibility by collaborating with end users to create case studies, blog posts, and conference presentations. - Serve as a bridge between community needs, industry trends, and internal product development. - Act as a trusted technical advisor to prospects and customers, guiding adoption strategies, best practices, and integration approaches. - Develop and publish best-practice patterns for community members and enterprise users. - Partner closely with product and engineering teams to incorporate real-world feedback into roadmap decisions. Qualifications - 2+ years as a software engineer. - 6+ years creating technical content (blogs, workshops, YouTube videos, conference talks). - 5+ years actively using platforms such as LinkedIn, X, and Bluesky to publish technical content. - Hands-on involvement in open-source communities. - Experience with open-source technologies such as Kubernetes, Istio, NetworkPolicy, agentic frameworks/infrastructure, MCP, and AI agents. - Strong understanding of cloud networking, connectivity, security, MCP, and agentic AI systems. - Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt in rapidly evolving technical environments. Preferred Experience - Experience with Istio or other service mesh platforms. - Experience working with proxies or gateways such as Envoy. - Familiarity with Kubernetes Gateway API. - Experience with agentic frameworks and protocols such as ADK, MCP, or A2A.
