This role requires both creative design expertise and technical CMS implementation skills. The Website Designer will develop wireframes, build pages in content management systems, customize styling with HTML/CSS, and ensure websites are optimized for speed, SEO, and conversions. Responsibilities: - Website Design & Layouts: - Create wireframes and high-fidelity mockups in Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD. - Translate design concepts into responsive website layouts. - CMS Development & Customization: - Build and update websites on platforms like WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, or Shopify. - Customize themes/templates with HTML, CSS, and light JavaScript. - Manage plugins, widgets, and integrations. - Optimization & SEO: - Ensure websites are optimized for performance, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness. - Implement on-page SEO best practices (meta tags, alt text, heading structure). - Run speed audits using tools like Google PageSpeed Insights, GTmetrix, or Lighthouse. - Testing & QA: - Test sites across multiple devices, screen sizes, and browsers. - Troubleshoot bugs, formatting issues, or plugin conflicts. - Collaboration & Feedback: - Work with marketing and content teams to align site design with campaigns. - Incorporate feedback from stakeholders into revisions while maintaining design integrity. - File Management & Maintenance: - Keep site design assets organized. - Ensure CMS platforms are regularly updated and secure. Required Experience & Skills (Minimum): - 2+ years of professional website design experience. - Proficiency with design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch). - Experience building and customizing sites on at least one CMS (WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace). - Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS. Ideal Experience & Skills: - Experience designing for e-commerce (Shopify, WooCommerce). - Basic JavaScript or front-end development skills. - Familiarity with Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and SEO optimization. - Industry experience with B2B SaaS, marketing agencies, or e-commerce brands. What Does a Typical Day Look Like? A Website Designer’s day revolves around turning design concepts into functional, optimized websites. You will: - Design layouts and prototypes that capture brand identity and user experience goals. - Build and customize sites in CMS platforms, applying HTML/CSS for advanced styling. - Run performance and SEO audits, making adjustments to improve load times and visibility. - Test sites across devices and browsers to ensure flawless user experiences. - Collaborate with marketing and content teams to align design updates with campaigns. - Maintain and update websites to ensure security, responsiveness, and brand alignment. Job Description At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicated Senior Electrical Designer to join our talented team on a full-time remote basis. In this role, you will work independently on various projects as assigned by a Manager. You will also play a role in the entire design process, including but not limited to preliminary assessments, concept creation, design, problem resolution, and customer and vendor coordination. You may work on several concurrent projects, and at times may assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. Additional Responsibilities - Assists Project Lead with design computations and quantity estimates, and develops probable construction cost estimates. - Perform the role of Project Lead for less complex projects within the business unit. - Promotes the use of, and participates in the development of, company design and production standards. - Prepares reports, specifications, plans, and supports construction for projects. - Assesses the requirements of a project, breaks a project into tasks, and works with a Project Manager to determine the scope of work, budget, and staffing. - Uses computer-aided design technologies to develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents. - Reviews drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards. - Selects equipment based on recommendations of the Project Lead, and fills out equipment schedules. - Creates drawings of own designs, and produces markups to be incorporated in drawings by the design team. - Researches design options and documents findings for the Project Lead. - Keeps Project Lead and/or Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services. - Researches code issues and communicates with code officials, as well as other disciplines. - Makes clear, well-organized, and effective presentations to technical audiences. - Ensures that drawings and designs follow company quality, production, and design standards. - Mentors, supports, and guides Designers and Engineers who are early in their careers with project execution. - Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for design such as service sizing, short circuit calculations, voltage drop and heat derating, ground conductor sizing, and detailed connected/demand load calculations. - Creates specialized drawings, such as operations matrices, elevations, or details and diagrams. - Performs additional tasks or special projects as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements - 8+ years of previous design experience in the building design industry (for example: lighting systems, fire alarm systems, power distribution, etc.). - Technical or Associate Degree in design from an accredited technical institution or college. - Must be proficient in the use of engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD/Revit/Navisworks). - Has a demonstrated ability to manage projects, problem solve, communicate effectively with all key personnel, and manage time. - Strong oral and written communication skills. - Proven time management skills to juggle more than one project at a time. - Thorough knowledge of system design and applicable codes.
